KUALA LUMPUR (July 20): Dagang NeXchange Bhd (DNex) has appointed former inspector-general of police (IGP) Tan Sri Acryl Sani Abdullah Sani as its deputy chairman, effective Aug 1.

Acryl Sani, 61, who has served in the police force for 37 years, will take the role as an independent and non-executive deputy chairman, according to the group's bourse filing.

He was named the country’s 13th IGP in May 2021, before retiring on June 22 this year.

“Acryl Sani started his career in the police force on Feb 2, 1986 as a cadet assistant superintendent. Since then, he has held various positions in the police force, including director of internal security and public order department, director of commercial criminal investigation department and director of logistics and technology department,” said DNex.

He currently holds 375,000 shares in the group.

In December last year, DNex redesignated its managing director Tan Sri Syed Zainal Abidin Syed Mamed Tahir as executive chairman, replacing Tan Sri Abdul Rahman Mamat who resigned from the position to pursue other corporate interests.

Shares of DNex closed unchanged at 49 sen on Thursday (July 20), giving the group a market capitalisation of RM1.55 billion.
