KUALA LUMPUR (July 11): Bright Packaging Bhd announced its joint venture deal with Datai Plantations Sdn Bhd (DPSB) to diversify into oil palm plantations has become unconditional, thereby fulfilling its obligation to invest in DPSB. 

In a filing Tuesday (July 11), upon fulfilling the conditions precedent set in the joint venture agreement, it discharged its obligation to invest in DPSB under clause 4.1 of the agreement.

The joint venture will facilitate Bright Packaging’s expansion into oil palm plantations, together with facilities and the provision of services ancillary to such plantation on parcels of land located in Sarikei, Sarawak.

Based on an earlier filing dated May 5, 2023, as per the joint venture agreement, Bright Packaging was to invest a sum of RM5.3 million in DPSB.

The investment sum would be utilised by DPSB to construct necessary infrastructure for the project such as access and field roads, bridges and workers' hostel, together with the improvement of water management which would see the construction of bunds and water gates.
