KUALA LUMPUR (July 7): Datuk Abdul Aziz Sheikh Fadzir, who has recently returned to Destini as an independent and non-executive director, has emerged as a substantial shareholder of the engineering solutions group with a 6.82% stake.

According to a bourse filing on Friday (July 7), the Umno politician, who was formerly a member of Parliament (MP) for Kulim-Bandar Bahru, purchased 94 million shares representing 5.651% in Destini via Dayanine Equity Sdn Bhd on Friday, at 8.5 sen apiece or RM7.99 million in total. 

Following the shares purchase, Abdul Aziz has an indirect 5.65% stake in Destini, with a direct 1.17% stake.

Abdul Aziz previously held the same position on Destini’s board from Aug 30, 2017 until May 18, 2018, according to the company’s past filing.

Shares of Destini closed unchanged at nine sen on Friday, giving it a market capitalisation of RM149.72 million.
