SELANGOR (June 27): The Summit USJ shopping mall has unveiled on Tuesday (June 27), seven new tenants in an effort to revitalise the mall.
The tenants include Fun X Golf, Fun X World, Stemberry, Lan Zhou Mee Tarik, Mak Chick, AIO Home and NSK Grocer. To date, Fun X Golf, Fun X World and AIO Home have already been opened to the public, while the others are expected to open by October this year.
In his opening speech at the unveiling ceremony held on Tuesday, Summit Subang USJ management corporation (MC) chairman Zuhairy Isa said: “We are delighted to unveil the revitalised Summit USJ and introduce our exciting tenants to the community. Our goal is to curate an exceptional line-up that caters to the diverse interests and preferences of our valued customers”.
He also shared that as of now, the over 800,000 square feet (sq ft) mall has an occupancy rate of 67% but with the new tenants coming in, it is expected to have an occupancy rate of 75%. The current average footfall for Summit USJ is about 300,000 per month and the average rental for each retail lot in the mall is about RM5 psf (per sq ft).
One of the new tenants, Fun X Golf, which is powered by QED Korea Golf Simulator technology, is an indoor golf facility spanning close 15,000 sq ft, while Fun X World, on the other hand, is an indoor playground cum arcade that spans 55,000 sq ft. With a net lettable area of 20,000 sq ft, AIO Home will offer home appliances and furniture.
Stemberry will offer health and wellness products, while Lan Zhou Mee Tarik and Mak Chick are some of the new F&B (food and beverage) outlets in the mall.
Also present at the ceremony on Tuesday was the Ministry of Domestic Trade and Cost of Living (distributive trade and business sector) senior director Datuk Rohaizi Bahari. He said that the retail industry contributed to a gross domestic product (GDP) of 16%, while it also provides plenty of job opportunities.
“Summit USJ welcoming new tenants does not only showcase the resilience and adaptability of the mall industry but also signifies a commitment to delivering exceptional experiences to the community,” he added.
Rohaizi also announced that the Ministry of Domestic Trade and Cost of Living plans to collaborate with Summit USJ on new programmes to encourage footfall and consumer spending. These programmes will be called “Jualan Rahmah” and “Kempen Beli Barangan Malaysia”.
