KUALA LUMPUR (June 9): Pos Malaysia Bhd announced that Kumpulan Wang Persaraan (Diperbadankan) (KWAP) has ceased to be a substantial shareholder of the national postal service firm.
In a bourse filing on Friday (June 9), Pos Malaysia said this came after the civil service pension fund offloaded 100,000 shares on the open market to trim its stake to 4.99% or 39.09 million shares.
KWAP began disposing of Pos Malaysia shares in May this year. Between May 12 and June 8, the pension fund sold a total 2.47 million shares — equivalent to a 0.32% stake.
Pos Malaysia’s remaining substantial shareholder is DRB-Hicom Bhd, which directly owns a 22.1% stake and another 31.39% via Hicom Holdings Bhd. Tycoon Tan Sri Syed Mokhtar Albukhary Syed Nor owns a 55.92% stake in DRB-Hicom via Etika Strategi Sdn Bhd.
Shares in Pos Malaysia ended two sen or 3.92% higher at 53 sen, giving the group a market capitalisation of RM410.96 million.
