KUALA LUMPUR (May 16): YAM Tunku Kamariah Aminah Maimunah Iskandariah Sultan Iskandar, a member of the Johor royal family, has been appointed as a non-executive chairman of AHB Holdings Bhd.

Tunku Kamariah is the eldest sister of the Sultan of Johor, Sultan Ibrahim Almarhum Sultan Iskandar. Her appointment is effective immediately, the officer furniture maker’s filing with Bursa Malaysia showed.

Tunku Kamariah is succeeding the AHB’s chairman position after Tan Sri Mazlan Lazim left it vacant, following his resignation in September last year.

It should be noted that RHB Trustee Bhd emerged as AHB’s substantial shareholder on April 18, 2023, after acquiring 63.08 million shares or a 15.957% stake in the company.

Subsequently, RHB Trustee had last week (on May 9) upped its stake in AHB by purchasing 73.29 million shares in the company, raising its stake to 28.69% or 136.36 million shares.

Over the last three months, there have been some changes in AHB’s board.

On March 6, AHB’s independent and non-executive director Loh Woen Tsau resigned from the position, citing “to pursue other personal opportunities” as the reason.

In the same month, AHB appointed Datuk Dr Anuar Mohd Noh as its new independent and non-executive director.

On April 20, AHB’s executive director Teh Boon Hong tendered his resignation, also citing “to pursue other personal opportunities” as his reason.

Shares in AHB closed 1.5 sen or 11.54% higher at 14.5 sen on Tuesday (May 16), giving the group a market capitalisation of RM73 million.
