KUALA LUMPUR (May 12): Home improvement retailer Mr DIY Group (Malaysia) Bhd has launched its new retail hardware outlet EMTOP, bringing the globally recognised hardware brand EMTOP to Malaysia.
EMTOP, available in 80 countries across the world, produces a broad range of hardware products.
Mr DIY previously opened its first EMTOP store on April 24 in Bandar Puteri Puchong and is set to open another at Jalan Nanas Kawasan 18 in Klang. Currently, Mr DIY is the only entity licensed to operate EMTOP in Malaysia.
“The lockdowns during the pandemic, the rising cost of raw materials and the higher cost of services have all inspired a do-it-yourself (DIY) culture amongst Malaysians, which in turn has increased demand for hardware, tools and gadgets.
“Responding to this demand, we decided to become the master franchisee of the EMTOP brand in Malaysia,” Mr DIY group chief executive officer Adrian Ong said in a statement on Friday (May 12).
He said that the EMTOP brand is a favourite among DIY-ers and professionals in the building industry.
“Their stores carry a wide range of hardware essentials in one convenient location and at reasonable prices, living up to the Mr DIY promise of delivering quality products at accessible prices,” he said.
Following the launch, EMTOP joins Mr DIY’s line-up of brands, including Mr DIY, launched in 2005, followed by Mr TOY in 2019, Mr DOLLAR in 2020, Mr DIY Express in 2021 and Mr DIY Plus in 2022.
With the opening of EMTOP, the group now has a total of more than 1,100 stores nationwide.
In conjunction with the opening of the first EMTOP store, Mr DIY is offering discounts of up to 30% on power tools, angle grinders, impact drivers, cordless drills, impact drills, and cordless screwdrivers, as well as gift-with-purchase promotions when customers buy EMTOP products.
Additionally, Mr DIY will also conduct a series of product demonstrations at EMTOP in Bandar Puteri Puchong and its MidValley Megamall outlet from May 5 to June 5, 2023.
Mr DIY shares closed up 0.63% or one sen to RM1.60 on Friday, valuing the company at RM15.09 billion.
