CYBERJAYA (May 9): The Ministry of Science, Technology and Innovation (Mosti), through Cradle Fund Sdn Bhd (Cradle), on Tuesday (May 9) launched a series of micro-conference tours, namely the MYStartup NXT, as part of efforts to generate an inclusive, effective and sustainable ecosystem in Malaysia.
Mosti said in a statement that the micro-conferences aimed to increase the involvement of local startups in Malaysia, provide wider access to the support and benefit of the startup ecosystem, as well as help the growth of companies.
It said that MYStartup aims to create over 5,000 quality startups by 2030, where Kuala Lumpur is one of the world’s 25 developing startup ecosystems.
“As such, there is a huge potential for other cities in Malaysia which can be developed to become hubs for startup founders.
Minister of Science, Technology and Innovation Chang Lih Kang said in the same statement that the launch of the MyStartup Annual Report will help the government to realise these aspirations through programmes that will be driven to produce the best results.
“MYStartup NXT aims to embrace innovation that can be easily accessed in the government’s efforts to support the development of startups in the long term, in line with the aspirations of the Malaysia Madani concept, namely to build an innovative and high-tech nation,” he said.
According to Mosti, the MYStartup Annual Report launched on Tuesday records MYStartup’s achievements and impact on the country’s startup ecosystem throughout its establishment, which outlines three main approaches, namely the MYStartup Portal, strategic initiative and the people’s programme.
In addition, a specially designed digital platform, namely MYStartup Dev, has also been introduced to connect digital technology talent with ecosystem partners and upskilling programmes.
The MYStartup NXT tour series is a continuation of the previous MYStartup tour initiative and will be expanded nationwide, starting from Cyberjaya, Sarawak and Penang, and culminating in Sabah.
