KUALA LUMPUR (April 27): Technology firm VSTECS Bhd, through its wholly-owned subsidiary VSTECS Pericomp Sdn Bhd, has entered into an agreement with Huawei Technologies (M) Sdn Bhd to distribute Huawei's digital data centre facility products and services.
In a statement on Thursday (April 27), VSTECS said it intends to continue promoting and selling Huawei's products and solutions for developing efficient and sustainable data centres.
Huawei, meanwhile, will continue to innovate in clean power generation, green ICT (information and communications technology) energy infrastructure, and integrated smart energy to help customers achieve the goal of carbon neutrality.
VSTECS chief executive officer Soong Jan Hsung said the need to store and process large amounts of data in a secure and efficient manner is growing rapidly, as businesses increasingly rely on digital platforms.
“This, coupled with increasing privacy regulation, has increased demand for green and intelligent data centres in Malaysia. We are enhancing our power solutions portfolio through this new distributorship, and will be adding more green, renewable energy products and solutions in the near future,” he added.
Chong Chern Peng, the vice-president of Huawei Malaysia's digital power business unit, opined that VSTECS is a trustworthy and reliable partner, given its “robust sales network” and “outstanding after-sales services”.
“I look forward to continuing working together with them in promoting data centre facilities, further expanding the solar industry across Malaysia, keeping abreast of sustainability trends, and in assisting the nation in meeting its carbon neutrality goals."
VSTECS shares dropped 4.5% or six sen to close at RM1.28 on Thursday, valuing the ICT hardware and software distributor at RM460.8 million.
