KUALA LUMPUR (April 20): The Real Estate and Housing Developers’ Association (Rehda) Malaysia hailed the government’s efforts to create a one-stop centre for applicants of the Malaysia My Second Home (MM2H) programme.
Its president Datuk NK Tong said the previously set conditions have had damaging impact on the MM2H programme as Malaysia was not only losing to neighbouring countries but also creating a different “perception” among foreign investors, according to a press statement issued Thursday (April 20).
“The government’s intent to review the requirements as well as facilitate and expedite the processing of MM2H applications via a one-stop centre is definitely a step in the right direction. The minister, Datuk Seri Tiong King Sing’s call for the review is extremely timely and will demonstrate that Malaysia remains open to more investment capital, [also] through the MM2H programme," Tong said.
“The ultimate beneficiary is the rakyat. As the economy prospers, the rakyat will too. We hope that this review will be speedy and decisive, and the outcome will be attractive for potential MM2H participants moving forward, making Malaysia the preferred destination for a second home.”
On Rehda Malaysia’s part, the statement highlighted that the association will continue to encourage its members to carry out its nation-building responsibility by providing quality, affordable homes to Malaysians in a timely manner.
