KUALA LUMPUR (March 31): Uzma Bhd’s 70%-owned subsidiary Uzma LNG Sdn Bhd is supplying liquefied natural gas (LNG) to ND Paper Malaysia (Selangor) Sdn Bhd’s factory in Banting, Selangor for RM70 million.
Uzma LNG will supply the natural gas via virtual pipeline system, Uzma said. The contract value is subject to LNG supplied and the prevailing market price of LNG at the time of delivery, it said.
The two parties have entered into an LNG supply agreement spanning two years from March 15 this year to March 14, 2025, the company exchange filing stated.
NDP is a subsidiary of Nine Dragons Paper (Holding) Limited, a company listed on the Hong Kong Stock Exchange.
It is the second largest paper manufacturing group worldwide in terms of production capacity and China's leading paper producer. The group has an annual design production capacity of approximately 18 million tonnes.
According to its website, NDP’s presence in Malaysia includes its operations in Bentong, Pahang (annual production of 0.6 million tonnes for recycled pulp) and Selangor (0.6 million tonnes for kraftliner and 0.3 million tonnes for corrugated medium).
Shares of Uzma closed 2.44% or 1.5 sen to 63 sen per share, giving the company a market capitalisation of RM220.02 million.
