KUALA LUMPUR (March 21): The Perikatan Nasional (PN) supreme council has rejected Parti Pejuang Tanah Air’s application to be a component party.

PN secretary general Datuk Seri Hamzah Zainudin said in a statement here on Tuesday (March 21) that the decision was made in the PN supreme council meeting chaired by PN chairman Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin on Monday.

On March 2, Pejuang president Datuk Seri Mukhriz Mahathir said the party had sent an application letter to join PN to Muhyiddin, PAS president Tan Sri Abdul Hadi Awang and Gerakan president Datuk Dr Dominic Lau.

Hamzah also said the supreme council had decided to retain the use of the PN logo in the upcoming state election in Kedah, Selangor, Penang and Negeri Sembilan, while the PAS logo would be used in Kelantan and Terengganu.

“The supreme council also instructed the election machinery in all six states to make ample preparations,” he said.

He added that the council had also appointed Kedah Menteri Besar Datuk Seri Muhammad Sanusi Md Nor as the PN election director general, and Datuk Seri Dr Ronald Kiandee as the Sabah PN liaison committee chairman.

Datuk Dr Mohd Radzi Md Jidin has been appointed as the Federal Territories liaison committee chairman, while Mohamad Siddiq Mohd Azani and Muhd Khidir Izaidin are to serve as PN executive assistant secretaries.
