KUALA LUMPUR (Nov 19): The results of the 15th general election (GE15) will be known later on Saturday (Nov 19) night. Follow our live blog as The Edge Malaysia team brings you the news as it takes place.
Caretaker Home Affairs Minister Datuk Seri Hamzah Zainudin has managed to defend his seat in Larut with an 11,598-vote majority, this time under the Perikatan Nasional (PN) ticket.
This will be his fourth term in the Larut parliamentary seat.
Hamzah previously ran under Barisan Nasional (BN) and has been defending the seat since 2004.
Overall, Hamzah, who is also PN secretary-general, succeeded in gaining a total of 28,350 votes. BN’s Mohd Shafiq Fhadly Mahmud got 16,752 votes.
Parti Pribumi Bersatu Malaysia deputy president and incumbent MP for Tambun, Datuk Seri Faizal Azumu, has lost to Pakatan Harapan's chairman and prime minister candidate Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim in a close fight, which saw Anwar securing the win with a slim majority of 3,736 votes.
Peja received a total of 45,889 votes, behind Anwar who secured 49,625 votes. Meanwhile, BN's Datuk Aminuddin Md Hanafiah received 28,140 votes to come in third. Parti Pejuang Tanah Air lost its deposit.
PN has secured the Rompin seat and caused the first BN loss in the constituency since it was established in 1986, with its candidate Datuk Abdul Khalib Abdullah receiving 31,589 votes, for a majority of 1,438 votes. BN's Datuk Seri Hasan Arifin secured 30,151 votes to come in second.
Meanwhile, PH's candidate Erman Shah Jaios and independent candidate Hamizi Husain both lost their deposits.

At the moment, PN has won a total of 60 seats, just three seats behind PH, which has won 63 seats.
Meanwhile, Barisan Nasional (BN) has only gained a mere 24 seats.
In total, the Election Commission has announced 176 seats out of 222 seats in Parliament.
The atmosphere at the PN viewing party in Glenmarie is very lively, with more supporters coming in, including by bus.
PN has won the Jerlun, Kedah, seat, with its candidate Dr Abd Ghani Ahmad receiving 31,685 votes, ahead of BN's Datuk Othman Aziz, Pakatan Harapan's Dr Mohamed Fadzil Mohd Ali, and the incumbent Parti Pejuang Tanah Air's Datuk Seri Mukhriz Mahathir, with a majority of 20,456 votes.
BN came in second with a total of 11,229 votes. Both Fadzil and Mukhriz lost their deposits.
PN election director Datuk Seri Mohamed Azmin Ali has lost his seat in Gombak to PH’s Datuk Seri Amirudin Shari in a stiff showdown at GE15.
Azmin faced a five-cornered fight in Gombak, but lost this round, despite having won the seat for three terms previously.
Amirudin, who is also the PKR vice-president, gained a whopping 12,729-vote majority, according to Election Commission data.
Amirudin gained a total of 72,267 votes, followed by incumbent Azmin with 59,538 votes.
Azmin has not made a public appearance at the PN viewing party as at 1.24am on Sunday.
PN has taken over Padang Rengas from Barisan Nasional, with its candidate Captain Azahari Hasan receiving 12,931 votes, ahead of BN's Mohd Arrif Abdul Majid and PH's Muhammad Kamil Abdul Munim, with a majority of 3,046 votes.
BN received a total of 9,885 votes, while 7,062 voters cast their votes for PH.
Perikatan Nasional (PN) continues its successful campaign after wresting Kuantan from the Pakatan Harapan (PH) incumbent, Fuziah Salleh.
Its candidate, Wan Razali Wan Nor, received 25,514 votes, ahead of Fuziah’s 22,648 votes, for a majority of 2,866 votes.
Meanwhile, Barisan Nasional's (BN's) candidate Datuk Seri Ab Hamid Mohd Nazahar only got 19,114 votes to come in third. Parti Pejuang Tanah Air's Major Anuar Tajuddin lost his deposit.
PH's candidate for Parit Buntar, Datuk Seri Mujahid Yusof Rawa, has lost the seat that he has held since 2008 to PN's unknown, Mohd Misbahul Munir Masduki (Ustaz Misbah), in yet another upset by PN.
Ustaz Misbah received a total of 23,223 votes, ahead of Mujahid's 17,828, with a majority of 5,395 votes.
Meanwhile, BN's Imran Mohd Yusof received 11,593 votes. Parti Pejuang Tanah Air's candidate Rohijas Md Sharif lost his deposit.
The Election Commission has announced the total number of seats won so far by the coalitions and parties involved in the GE15 as at 12.15am.
The coalition of Parti Islam se-Malaysia (PAS) and PN leads the pack with 35 seats, after the results of 112 seats have been announced. Coming in second is PH with 28 seats, followed by Gabungan Parti Sarawak with 20 seats.
The atmosphere inside the grand ballroom of the Glenmarie Hotel and Golf Resort has become increasingly joyous, as Perikatan Nasional gains seat after seat in the peninsula, causing several upsets to the Pakatan Harapan and Barisan Nasional coalitions, while at the same time retaining their customary seats, especially in the east coast states of Kelantan and Terengganu.
Party members and machinery are waiting anxiously, but with a lot of hope, for the coalition to become the biggest bloc in Parliament, as they await the official results of GE15.
Party leaders, including Tan Sri Hadi Awang, Datuk Seri Takiyuddin Hassan, and Datuk Seri Tuan Ibrahim Tuan Man, are already here.
PN chairman Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin is expected to make his appearance soon to conduct a press conference.
The coalition seems to be ready to announce their victory of the GE15, despite there still being half of the seats contested that haven't been announced.
Seats whose wins are being anticipated at the moment include Tambun, where Parti Pribumi Bersatu Malaysia's deputy president Datuk Seri Faizal Azumu is defending against PH's chairman Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim, as well as the Gombak seat, where PN's election director Datuk Seri Azmin Ali is defending, against the onslaught of PH's Datuk Amiruddin Shari.
Datuk Seri Dr Ronald Kiandee of Perikatan Nasional continues to retain the Sabah seat of Beluran that he has held since 1999, with a majority of 1,594 votes.
He received a total of 11,303 votes, ahead of Barisan Nasional's Benedict Asmat who received 9,709 votes.
Meanwhile, Pakatan Harapan's Felix Joseph Saang came in third with a total of 4,460 votes, while Parti Warisan Sabah's Rowiena Rasid got 3,707 votes. Parti Pejuang Tanah Air's candidate Hausing Samsudin @ Sudin lost his deposit.
Perikatan Nasional has caused yet another upset by winning the Hulu Selangor seat. Its candidate, Hasnizan Harun, received a total of 46,823 votes, ahead of Pakatan Harapan's Dr Sathia Prakash Nadarajan’s 45,261 votes.
This is the first PH seat that PN has won in Selangor, winning the seat with a majority of 1,562 votes.
Meanwhile, Barisan Nasional's Datuk T Mohan came in third, with a total of 27,050 votes. Other candidates, Harumaini Omar of Parti Pejuang Tanah Air, Parti Bangsa Malaysia's Haniza Talha, and independent candidate Azlinda Baroni all lost their deposits.
PN’s Datuk Dr Radzi Jidin has won the Putrajaya parliamentary seat with a 2,310-vote majority.
Putrajaya has been BN's stronghold for four terms, held by incumbent Datuk Seri Tengku Adnan Tengku Mansor (Ku Nan).
Radzi won a total of 16,002 votes in Putrajaya, while Ku Nan clinched 13,962 votes.
PN has snatched Machang from BN, after its candidate Wan Ahmad Fayhsal Wan Ahmad Kamal won 35,603 votes, ahead of the incumbent, BN's Datuk Ahmad Jazlan Yaakub, with a majority of 10,154.
Jazlan received a total vote of 25,449 votes. Other candidates, including Pakatan Harapan's Dr Rosli Allani S Abdull Khadir and Parti Bumiputra Perkasa Malaysia's Major (Rtd) Muhammad Seman, both lost their deposits.
PN election director Datuk Seri Mohamed Azmin Ali arrives at Glenmarie in a similar fashion to the coalition chairman Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin.
He headed straight to the holding room together with other PN's top leaders.
Azmin is currently trailing behind PH's Datuk Seri Amirudin Shari by 10,000 votes in the Gombak parliamentary seat.
The people of Kulim-Bandar Baharu have made their voices known, by voting in PN's Roslan Hashim, and kicking out the incumbent Saifuddin Nasution Ismail of PH.
Roslan received a total of 34,469 votes, ahead of Saifuddin's 21,408.
Meanwhile, BN's candidate Datuk Muhar Hussain received 13,872 votes to come in third. Parti Pejuang Tanah Air's candidate, Mohamad Yusrizal Yusoff, lost his deposit.
PN has caused another upset after wresting Langkawi from two-time former prime minister and political giant Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad, with a majority of 13,518 votes. Read the full story
Its candidate, Mohd Suhaimi Abdullah, received a total vote of 25,463, ahead of BN's candidate Datuk Armishah Siraj's 11,945 votes.
Other candidates, including incumbent Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad who represented Parti Pejuang Tanah Air, PH's candidate Zabidi Yahya and an independent candidate Datuk Abd Kadir Sainudin, lost their deposits, respectively.
PN has retained the Sik seat in Kedah with incumbent Ahmad Tarmizi Sulaiman receiving a total 34,606 votes, ahead of Maizatulakmam Othman @ Ibrahim of BN, and Datuk Latipah Md Yatim of PH, with a majority of 21,787 votes.
PAS president Tan Sri Abdul Hadi Awang and deputy president Datuk Seri Tuan Ibrahim Tuan Man have entered the grand ballroom of the Glenmarie Hotel and Golf Resort to boisterous reception by supporters, chanting Allahu Akbar all the way from the lobby.
The press scrummed around both Hadi and Tuan Ibrahim as they made their way into the ballroom.
PAS president Tan Sri Abdul Hadi Awang has retained the Marang seat in Terengganu for the seventh, non-consecutive term, after receiving 73,115 votes, ahead of BN's Jasmira Othman who received a total of 31,386 votes. Hadi won with a majority of 41,729 votes.
PH's Azhar Ab Shukur and Parti Pejuang Tanah Air's Dr Zarawi Sulong both lost their deposits.
PAS president Tan Sri Abdul Hadi Awang has made the seemingly premature announcement that PN — a coalition made of Bersatu, PAS, and Gerakan — has won the election and will be forming the government.
This was ahead of any official announcement on GE15's results.
“This is based on our data. Thank you, voters, for your support to PN and PAS,” Hadi said at a press conference at the PAS headquarters in Kuala Lumpur at 11.15pm.
According to the coalition’s unofficial results, PN is likely to win all the seats it contested in Kelantan, Terengganu, and Perlis.
Meanwhile, official data by the Election Commission said Hadi is maintaining his seat of Marang with a huge majority win of 73,115 votes.
Trailing behind him is BN candidate Jasmira Othman with 31,386 votes.
PN has retained the Kuala Nerus seat, after its candidate Datuk Dr Alias Razak won the contest with a majority of 29,765 votes, defeating the incumbent, Datuk Dr Mohd Khairuddin Aman Razali.
Alias received 56,697 votes, ahead of Khairuddin's 26,932 votes.
Khairuddin won the Kuala Nerus seat in the 2018 general election under the PAS ticket.
Meanwhile, the other candidates, Datuk Seri Suhaimi Hashim from PH and Azaha Wahid from Parti Pejuang Tanah Air, both lost their deposits.
PN continues its winning streak in the peninsula, after winning the Alor Setar seat with a majority of 9,931 votes.
Its candidate Afnan Hamimi Datuk Taib Azamudden received a total of 37,486 votes, ahead of PH's candidate Simon Ooi Tze Min, who received 27,555 votes.
All other candidates, from BN, Parti Pejuang Tanah Air, Parti Warisan Sabah, and two independent candidates, lost their deposits.
PN retains the Pasir Mas seat in Kelantan, after its candidate Ahmad Fadhli Shaary received a total of 44,444 votes, for a majority of 30,717 votes, ahead of BN's Datuk Ab Ghani Harun who received 13,727 votes.
Datuk Husam Musa, who represented PH, as well as Parti Bumiputra Perkasa Malaysia's Nasrul Ali Hasan Abdul Latif, both lost their deposits.
PN added another seat under its belt after being officially announced as having won the Mersing seat in East Johor.
Its candidate, Muhammad Islahuddin Abas, received 21,066 votes, ahead of BN's Datuk Abdul Latif Bandi who received 18,729 votes. PN wins with a majority of 2,337 votes.
Meanwhile, PH's candidate Fatin Zulaikha Zaidi received 6,813 votes to come in third. Both Parti Pejuang Tanah Air and an independent candidate lost their deposits.
PN's candidate for Kota Bharu, Datuk Seri Takiyuddin Hassan, has retained the Kelantan state capital, after receiving 41,869 votes, ahead of PH's Dr Hafidzah Mustakim, who managed to receive 19,256 votes.
Takiyuddin won with a majority of 22,613 votes.
BN's Datuk Seri Rosmadi Ismail came in third with 16,168 votes. Candidates from Parti Bumiputra Perkasa Malaysia, Parti Rakyat Malaysia, and an independent candidate, all lost their deposits.
BN has suffered another loss to PN, after Datuk Seri Mahdzir Khalid lost the seat that he has held since 2013.
PN's candidate, Nurul Amin Hamid, received 28,217 votes, ahead of Mahdzir's 17,258 votes, for a majority of 10,959 votes.
PH's candidate, Muaz Abdullah, lost his deposit, as did Parti Pejuang Tanah Air's Razali Lebai Salleh.
The Glenmarie Hotel and Golf Resort became lively again after PN started to win more and more seats as official results came trickling in from the Election Commission.
At 11.03pm, the party machinery chanted Allahu Akbar" — God is Great — after the EC announced PAS Tan Sri Abdul Hadi Awang as having won the Marang seat.
Earlier, Parti Pribumi Bersatu Malaysia president Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin had also retained his Pagoh seat.
Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin became the first prime minister candidate to have won in the GE15, after he retained the Pagoh seat with a higher majority of 10,007 votes, compared with the 6,927 votes he got in the 2018 general election.
Muhyiddin received a total of 24,986 votes, compared with PH's Iskandar Shah Abdul Rahman who got 14,979 votes. BN's Datuk Seri Razali Ibrahim came in last, with a total vote of 14,426.
PN's candidate for Labuan, Datuk Dr Suhaili Abdul Rahman returns as the MP for Labuan, after winning the seat with a slim majority of 708 votes, according to official data from the Election Commission.
He received 8,124 votes, ahead of BN's Bashir Alias who got 7,416 votes. Meanwhile, incumbent Datuk Rozman Isli, representing Parti Warisan Sabah, came in third, with 7,310 votes.
PH's candidate Datuk Wira Dr Ramli received 5,307 votes. Both the Parti Bangsa Malaysia and Parti Pejuang Tanah Air's candidates lost their deposits.
Suhaili was the MP for Labuan between 1999 and 2008, before he was sidelined by BN.
PN's candidate in Pasir Puteh, Ustaz Nik Zawawi, has been announced as the winner in the Kelantan seat, with a majority of 29,109 votes, defeating BN's Datuk Cikgu Awi, Pakatan Harapan's Ustaz Muhammad Husain, and Parti Pejuang Tanah Air's Kapten Wan Marzudi.
Nik Zawawi received a total of 52,937 votes, compared with Cikgu Awi's 23,828 votes. Both PH and Pejuang's candidates lost their deposits.
PAS president Tan Sri Abdul Hadi Awang is expected to maintain his Marang seat with a huge majority win, PN data claims.
According to the coalition’s data, Hadi is currently leading with more than 68,000 votes. Trailing behind him is BN candidate Jasmira Othman with almost 30,000 votes.
Perikatan Nasional's (PN) candidate, Mohd Azizi Abu Naim, is leading in Gua Musang, ahead of veteran Umno leader Tan Sri Tengku Razaleigh Hamzah (Ku Li), with a margin of 4,081 votes with more than half of all votes counted as of 9.51pm, according to the Election Commission as reported by Astro Awani.
Azizi has received 18,854 votes, ahead of Ku Li who has garnered 14,773 votes so far. Ku Li has held the seat since it was created in 1986, including for three terms when he was under the Semangat 46 party. The longest-serving Member of Parliament also held the Ulu Kelantan seat of Gua Musang between 1974 and 1982.
Pakatan Harapan's (PH) candidate Asharun Uji has received 2,864 votes, while Parti Pejuang Tanah Air's candidate Samsu Adabi Mamat has only 265 votes so far.
PN is currently leading the vote count in 12 parliamentary seats, according to unofficial results provided by the coalition.
Among the leading seats are Pagoh, led by its chairman Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin. Other seats are mainly in Kelantan and Terengganu — states led by coalition partner PAS — including Gua Musang, Ketereh, Kuala Krai, Tanah Merah, Dungun, Kemaman, Jeli, Pasir Mas, Bachok, Setiu, Kuala Nerus, and Hulu Terengganu. It is likely that PN will win all the seats it contested in Kelantan and Terengganu.
The unofficial results also show that PH is leading in 37 seats, Barisan Nasional (BN) in 11 seats, and Gabungan Parti Sarawak leading in 21 seats.
The situation in PN viewing party is quiet, despite the coalition winning its first seat in Saratok, and its chairman Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin leading in Pagoh with a considerable margin.
There are no PN national leaders present in the grand ballroom where the party machinery and members of the press have been camping since 6pm on Saturday. It is believed that they have arrived but had gone straight to the "holding room" located in another building in the resort.
PN has won its first seat in the GE15, after winning the Saratok seat with a majority of 8,826 votes, according to official Election Commission data.
Datuk Ali Biju, the incumbent, garnered 19,223 votes, defeating Gabungan Parti Sarawak's candidate Giendam Jonathan Tait who received 10,397 votes. PH's candidate Ibil Jaya lost his deposit, after only managing to get 1,221 votes.
PN chairman Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin is leading in Pagoh, after more than 60% of votes have been counted, according to Election Commission's data as reported by Astro Awani.
Muhyiddin has received 20,277 votes, ahead of BN's Datuk Seri Razali Ibrahim's 11,367 votes, as well as PH's Iskandar Shah Abdul Rahman’s 10,974 votes.
As much as 42,618 votes have been counted so far, according to Astro Awani, out of the total 69,939 eligible voters in the Northern Johor constituency.
PN’s Shah Alam candidate, Dr Afif Bahardin, has arrived at the Glenmarie Hotel, an hour after Datuk Seri Faizal Azumu. Afif waved to reporters and quickly walked into the ballroom.
Afif, 37, is a former Penang PKR leader who joined Bersatu in 2020. He is facing a four-cornered battle in Shah Alam against Isham Jalil from BN, Azli Yusof of PH, and Rafique Rashid Ali of Pejuang.
PN chairman Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin arrived at the Glenmarie Hotel and Golf Resort about 15 minutes ago (9.15pm), but did not go through the main door in front of the grand ballroom where the party machinery and members of the press have been encamped.
According to The Edge's photographer Shahrill Basri, Muhyiddin's entourage arrived at the resort but went past the main door. The Edge cannot confirm through which doors he went in after he arrived.
His personal assistant, Datuk Ainon Mohd, said she doesn't know why Muhyiddin did not use the main door. It is believed that Muhyiddin and other PN party leaders went straight to the "war room" somewhere in the resort.
Muhyiddin is defending the Pagoh seat, against PH's candidate Iskandar Shah Abdul Rahman and BN's Datuk Seri Razali Ibrahim.
The Langkawi incumbent MP and Pejuang candidate, Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad, is trailing behind BN's Armishah Siraj and PN's Datuk Mohd Suhaimi Abdullah in the Langkawi parliamentary seat.
Mahathir has so far garnered 222 votes, while Armishah (BN) is leading with 1,693 votes, and Suhaimi of PN is closing in with 1,600 votes.
Mahathir won the seat in GE14 under the PH flag.
With more than half of all votes counted, Malaysian United Democratic Alliance's (Muda) president and incumbent MP Syed Saddiq Syed Abdul Rahman is leading in Muar, with 17,859 votes. However, PN candidate Abdullah Husin is tracking closely behind, having garnered 15,496 votes.
Meanwhile, BN Helmy Abdul Latif is in third place with 11,780 votes.
There are 68,925 people eligible to vote in Muar. A total of 45,135 votes have been counted so far.
PN's candidate for Tambun, Datuk Seri Faizal Azumu (affectionately known as Peja), has arrived at the Glenmarie Hotel and Golf Resort in Glenmarie, Shah Alam. He appeared calm and collected.
Faizal managed to banter briefly with members of the press.
"I like your shirt," he said, pointing to a journalist as he arrived with his entourage.
Parti Gerakan Rakyat Malaysia president Datuk Dr Dominic Lau Hoe Chai arrived at the same time.
PN's candidate Sasha Lyna Abdul Latif is leading in Ampang, one of the constituencies with the most number of contestants, according to the Election Commission's data.
Sasha Lyna has garnered 137 votes so far, taking up 52.69% of the total votes counted at present, ahead of BN's Ivone Low Yi Wen’s 91 votes, and PH's Rodziah Ismail's 26 votes.
Parti Pejuang Tanah Air's candidate Nurul Ashikin Mabahwi has five votes, while Parti Warisan Sabah's Bryan Lai only has one vote.
Incumbent Datuk Zuraida Kamaruddin (Parti Bangsa Malaysia) has yet to receive any votes. The other three independent candidates have also yet to score any votes.
There are 133,494 voters eligible to vote in Ampang, with Malay voters making up 54.79%, followed by Chinese voters (34.66%), and Indian voters (8.71%).
More and more PN party members and machinery, as well as members of the media, are arriving at the Glenmarie Hotel and Golf Resort in Shah Alam, Selangor. However, no national leaders from the coalition have been seen yet.
PN contested in 171 seats nationwide, which raises the question of whether the coalition which governed Malaysia for 17 months between March 2020 and August 2021 is contesting to form a government on its own, rather than having to form a larger coalition with other parties, post-elections.
Among the main seats contested by PN are Pagoh, which is being contested by its chairman and eighth prime minister Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin; Tambun (Datuk Seri Ahmad Faizal Azumu); and Marang by PAS president Tan Sri Abdul Hadi Awang.
Unofficial internal coalition results suggest that Faizal is leading in the Tambun seat with 984 votes, ahead of BN's Aminuddin Hanafiah at 353 votes, and PH's chairman Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim's 118 votes. Another candidate from Parti Pejuang Tanah Air, Abdul Rahim Tahir, has only managed to garner seven votes so far.
PN came into GE15 with 46 seats — the second largest bloc in the Dewan Rakyat after PH's 91 seats.
