KUALA LUMPUR (April 4): Astro Malaysia Holdings Bhd chief executive officer (CEO) Datuk Rohana Rozhan has been redesignated as group CEO effective April 1.
In a filing with Bursa Malaysia today, Astro said the redesignation is intended to better reflect Rohana's role and responsibilities in the Astro Malaysia Holdings Berhad group of companies.
Rohana, a founding member of Astro group since she joined the company in 1995, was appointed as Astro CEO on April 1, 2011.
According to Astro’s annual report 2015, prior to her appointment as CEO, she was group chief financial officer at Astro All Asia Networks Ltd, where she was instrumental in AAAN’s listing on the then Kuala Lumpur Stock Exchange in 2003.
Astro credits Rohana as the principal architect of the company’s growth strategies.
She was also awarded CNBC’s Asia Business Leaders Award and the silver Stevie Award for corporate social responsibility, in recognition of her leadership role in championing lifelong learning and community development.
Astro shares closed 5 sen or 1.72% higher today at RM2.96, for a market capitalisation of RM15.36 billion.
