SINGAPORE (Oct 27): Raffles Education Corp has requested a suspension in the trading of its shares pending the outcome of an application related to the shareholding of CEO and chairman Chew Hua Seng.

Raffles Education says in a filing today that Chew has made an application related to his 36.68% stake in the company to the Securities Industries Council (SIC).

On Oct 22, the company called for a trading halt for Chew to consult with SIC. As the consultation is still ongoing and the trading halt has expired, the company requested a voluntary suspension while waiting for the SIC’s decision.

Raffles Education closed at 29 cents on Oct 21.
