PETALING JAYA: The Mapex Property Showcase garnered a total of RM37.8 million in sales as it came to a close yesterday.
Organised by Rehda Youth, the youth branch of the Real Estate and Housing Developers’ Association of Malaysia (Rehda), the five-day property exhibition was held at One Utama Shopping Centre here.
Opened last Wednesday, the event hosted up to 30 developers who ran booths exhibiting properties up for sale in two locations within the shopping centre.
Themed “Better Homes For A Better Tomorrow”, the event catered more to the familial demographic, comprising entirely residential properties.
“Our exhibition was family-skewed, which was why we picked this shopping mall,” said Rehda Youth deputy chairman and organiser Carrie Fong.
The event attracted up to more than 10,000 people, with the main demographic being families and young couples.
Throughout the week, a number of family-friendly activities, such as children’s colouring and talent competitions, photo booths, balloon giveaways, face painting and interactive games, as well as mask-changing performances and magic shows were held.
Alongside speeches from Fong and Mapex organising chairman and Rehda most recent past president Datuk Ng Seing Liong, the closing ceremony yesterday also included results from the lucky draw with prizes such as gift cards of up to RM1,000, and prizes for the best booths going to Nusmetro Ampang Sdn Bhd and PJ Development Holdings Bhd.
In addition, Rehda Youth also donated RM20,000 each to three orphanages: Agathians Shelter, Pusat Kanak-Kanak Trinity Selangor and Pusat Jagaan Anbe Sivam Klang.
The ceremony ended with the handing out of certificates of appreciation to Rehda Youth’s exhibition partners, such as Mah Sing Group Bhd, LH Land Development Sdn Bhd, RHB Bank Bhd and more.
“I would like to extend our congratulations to Rehda Youth for another very successful property showcase,” Ng said in his speech.
