KUALA LUMPUR (Feb 24): The development of TREC lifestyle and entertainment hub here, is expected to add RM143 million to the economy.

In a statement here today, TREC said that the hub would provide a safe, integrated entertainment destination for locals and a focal point for tourists in Malaysia.

It said that the project was also expected to create over 1,500 jobs.

TREC Founder, Cher Ng, said that the project would provide both tourists and locals an unrivalled entertainment centre, within Kuala Lumpur’s Golden Triangle.

"Kuala Lumpur has not seen any large-scale integrated entertainment developments in recent times, which is an area where we are falling behind our Asean neighbours.

"TREC will pioneer the one-stop integrated entertainment district that has made the likes of Hong Kong's LanKwai Fong, Shanghai's Xin TianDi and Singapore's Clark Quay must-visit locations," he said.

Built on a 2.83-hectare site, TREC will feature front row views over the spectacular greens of the venerable Royal Selangor Golf Course, and will be adjacent to the new location of Zouk KL — Kuala Lumpur’s premier clubbing hotspot.

TREC is a joint venture between Ng, the co-founder of Zouk KL, Datuk Douglas Cheng, a local businessman and entrepreneur, and Berjaya Assets Bhd.
