PORT DICKSON (May 19): Palm Springs Development Sdn Bhd (PSD), a subsidiary of listed developer Tanco Holdings Bhd (Tanco), will develop a water theme park and serviced suites resort on a 9.2 hectare land within the  162 hectare Palm Springs Resort City (PSRC), near here.

Group Managing Director, Datuk Seri Tony Tan, said the total gross development value of the water theme project was estimated at RM600 million, which would comprise a water theme park, serviced suites and a 250-room hotel with convention facilities for 2,000 people.

"Named Splash Park, the initial phase of this development will see a water theme park, which is the largest in Port Dickson and Negeri Sembilan.

It is expected to be operational in 2015. There will also be 830 units of fully-serviced Splash Park Suites," he told a press conference after a ground breaking ceremony for the project by Menteri Besar Datuk Seri Mohamad Hasan.

He said Splash Park would be complemented by other facilities already in place in PSRC, namely the 18-hole Palm Springs Royal Golf Club, a club village and extreme park.

"Splash Park will give a timely boost to Port Dickson, as a key attraction for both local and international tourists.

"While Port Dickson has done well in establishing itself as a holiday destination for locals, we hope Splash Park can help increase Port Dickson's profile as a vacation destination for international tourists.

"In addition to promoting tourism, Splash Park also aimed to serve the state by creating additional job opportunities in the hospitality and services sectors," he said.

Tan also said that the Splash Park serviced suites offered an attractive investment opportunity in assured rental returns of up to 63 per cent per annum, over a nine year period, payments of which would be administered by Pacific Trustees Bhd — a registered and licensed trust company.

He also announced that PSD was working with Impiana Hotels and Resorts Management Sdn Bhd to manage and operate 'Splash Park' suites.

The company has also appointed internationally renowned The Sanderson Group to design, build and establish operations for the water theme park at Splash Park.
