There’s no denying the power and pleasure of good design, and Italy has made it one of its national pillars

A flag-bearer for the country, homegrown and family-run Gallotti&Radice continues its stellar run in crafting luxurious pieces for the home that promise both comfort and style.

It was a shared love for glass that brought Pierangelo Gallotti and Luigi Radice together in 1956 to establish an artistic space devoted to the pursuit of making only the finest glass furnishings, such as lights and mirrors. The reception towards their ornamental, yet technically fine, pieces led the duo to believe there was room to grow their collections.

Today, the Milanese maison is led by CEO and second-generation scion Silvia Gallotti, Pierangelo’s daughter. “Gallotti&Radice is a company that retains its spirit of craftsmanship while catering for those who love furnishing their homes with style and personality. We have always strived for undeniable quality in designer furniture, celebrating an array of unique, individual tastes and styles. In Malaysia, we continue to work with [luxury furniture gallery] Stanzo Collection, which represents the best brands in the market. It has the right expertise and sensitivity to represent Gallotti&Radice and, together, we bring exceptional quality and design to the industry, furthering the evolution of Italian home furnishings.”

Although architects and designers have long formed the heart and soul of Gallotti&Radice’s clientele, a new breed of homeowners and tastemakers are fast becoming a formidable customer demographic as well. “Over the years, we have grown from developing individual products to creating complete collections capable of supporting unique lifestyles with strong identity and aesthetic impact. We now offer a total living lifestyle for people who love homes with personality,” says Silvia Gallotti.

Her own interest in design was a given, having grown up watching her father at work and being surrounded by objects of great beauty as well as practicality. “Ever since I was a girl, I have always been fascinated by this world that mixes different elements, where you can combine and create unique solutions. One of my most precious memories relates to Luigi Massoni, who designed the first Gallotti&Radice table. This is how Adam was born in 1969, marking a milestone in the company’s history.”

For those unaware of Adam’s existence, the table is perhaps the nec plus ultra of simplicity. Crafted from the finest glass and with an elegant, curved base, it surely counts as among the icons of minimalist furniture design. “Design is our passion,” Silvia Gallotti says. “We love transforming everyday objects into forms of furniture and art, combining materials, accurate workmanship and perfect inlays … It is a continuous experiment with new finishes. That is why we invest in collaborations with architects and designers who can interpret our style and give voice to our exclusive furnishings.”
