Launch of Sunway TES EDGE, officiated by Professor Teo Ee Sing, together with representatives from various accounting firms.

Malaysia’s initial target of producing 60,000 accounting professionals by 2020 was not achieved, and the nation now projects the need to reach this figure by 2030 to meet industry demand.

As technology and the changing business landscape continue to reshape the accounting profession, reinforced skillsets are crucial to remaining competitive.

To address this, Malaysia’s leading accounting institution has taken proactive steps to reinvent its programmes to meet emerging industry requirements, ensuring graduates are fully equipped to adapt and thrive while supporting Malaysia’s 2030 goal.

Sunway TES has introduced Sunway TES EDGE (Empower, Develop, Grow, Evolve), an outcome-oriented and industry-tailored programme that combines professional certifications, soft skills, business simulations, and personal empowerment. Delivered through five comprehensive modules, the programme offers powerful certifications, each backed by real-world application and industry relevance.

“We believe the true edge lies not just in academic excellence, but in preparing our students to thrive in the workplace and in life. Through Sunway TES EDGE, we empower aspiring professionals with the skills, confidence, and values to lead, innovate, and make a lasting impact in the accounting profession and beyond,” says Professor Teo Ee Sing, Professor Teo Ee Sing, Managing Director of Sunway College, Founder of Sunway TES Centre for Accountancy Excellence.

A unique differentiator of Sunway TES EDGE is its first-of-its-kind integration of ESG (environmental, social, and governance) literacy into an accounting talent incubator embedded as a core certification. It directly supports Malaysia’s NETR (National Energy Transition Roadmap) and ESG-focused economic direction.

Another key feature is the Dual-Track Pathways, where students can choose between the Market Leader Track, encompassing management, leadership, and client-facing roles, or the Specialist Track, focused on technical mastery in areas such as ESG, digital analytics, and audit, all tailored to Gen Z career aspirations.

The five modules of Sunway TES EDGE include:

  • Module 1: Global Change Leader – Sustainability and ESG projects including IFRS (International Financial Reporting Standards) S1 & S2 reporting, hackathons, and industry collaborations, equipping students with ESG fluency aligned with Bursa Malaysia’s 2025 mandate and Malaysia’s NETR.
  • Module 2: Digital Innovator – ICDL (Certifications in International Certification of Digital Literacy), AI (Artificial Intelligence), Data Analytics, and Financial Spreadsheets through global industry partnerships, aligned with MyDIGITAL and Industry 4.0 goals.
  • Module 3: The Inner EDGE – Focusing on self-awareness, mindset, and emotional agility, to develop confidence that aligns with competence. Students learn authentic communication, conflict resolution, and perspective-taking to build strong self-leadership.
  • Module 4: Audit Simulation & Workplace Learning Experience – Realistic audit environments mentored by Big 5 audit and consultancy leaders to bridge theory with practice.
  • Module 5: Career Influence Mastery – Building negotiation, conflict resolution, and strategic communication skills through simulations and bootcamps. Mock interviews with Big 5 HR panels, combined with LinkedIn and résumé mastery, ensure graduates are confident and career-ready.

These modules reinforce Sunway TES’s longstanding mission of bridging education with employability, a mission already proven by its outstanding track record of global excellence.

Building on this strong foundation, Sunway TES students once again excelled in the ACCA June 2025 examinations, securing worldwide recognition. A total of 12 students achieved global placings, continuing Sunway TES’s tradition of excellence.
