In efforts to curb the spread of Covid-19, the country has gone through four phases of Movement Control Order (MCO) imposed by the government. While the MCO was progressively relaxed in the fourth phase, it had already greatly impacted the economy and lifestyle of Malaysians, coping with this unprecedented situation.

Acknowledging the financial uncertainties that Malaysians are facing during this time, Prudential Assurance Malaysia Berhad (PAMB) and Prudential BSN Takaful Berhad have committed more than RM2 million in providing Covid-19 insurance and takaful protection to its customers as well as non-customers. In a recent move, Prudential Malaysia is offering a RM1,000 cash relief upon diagnosis and hospitalization as well as an RM10,000 death benefit due to Covid-1. This amount is doubled for Prudential customers who register for the Special Covid-19 Coverage on Pulse by Prudential (Pulse).

When Covid-19 was first detected in Malaysia and began to spread, Prudential was the first insurer to waive the exclusion in medical policies and certificates on communicable diseases requiring quarantine by law and subsequently introduced Special Covid-19 Coverage. Prudential has been monitoring the situation closely and have enhanced its coverage so that more Malaysians are able to access this benefit over a longer period of time.

For non-customers, the leading insurer has also set up a RM300,000 fund for them to receive free Covid-19 coverage. All they need to do is register for the Special Covid-19 Coverage on Pulse. Eligible users will then receive a RM1,000 cash payout as a financial relief upon hospitalization until the total fund pay-out reaches RM300,000.

Launched in August last year, Pulse is a free digital health app developed by Prudential Malaysia. It provides AI-powered self-help tools and real-time information to enable users to get a report on their health status, check on possible causes of their symptoms, get connected to a doctor for an online consultation and identify potential dengue hotspots.  In such a critical time, it also keeps users updated with the latest health tips and developments on Covid-19. Prudential Malaysia customers have access to the free online doctor consultation on Pulse, while non-customers can also enjoy the service free of charge upon completion of a health check available on the app.

Covid-19 has caused many Malaysians to reflect on the importance of their health and the need to adapt to a new way of life to move forward. Acknowledging that life may never again be the same, Prudential Malaysia will continue to listen and provide the best to support, protect and serve Malaysians no matter the situation, ensuring healthcare is accessible and affordable to all.
