A leading provider of comprehensive electrical engineering maintenance and solutions in Malaysia, BPE Engineering & Services Sdn Bhd continues to help drive the local oil and gas industry. Established in 1994, the company prides itself in being a provider of choice due to its extensive experience in the electrical engineering segment.

Registered with Suruhanjaya Tenaga and holding a Petronas licence, BPE provides its clients with a comprehensive array of solutions backed by generational expertise. Its clients not only benefit from an optimised workflow backed by efficient and integrated systems but also the company’s forward-thinking approach.

BPE’s foundation is built on the pillars of trust, clarity and discipline and its success is driven by its problem-solving outlook in catering to the demands and evolving needs of the industry. With its affinity for innovation, BPE is constantly developing new solutions and value-added experiences to fulfil the design demands of the market.

Eye on expansion

To further solidify its credentials, BPE made its first appearance as an exhibitor at Southeast Asia’s biggest petroleum industry expo, Oil & Gas Asia Exhibition (OGA 2022), in Kuala Lumpur in mid-September. Designed to strengthen the country’s position as a strong oil and gas nation, particularly in the Asian region, the event was attended by stakeholders and professionals in the oil, gas and energy sectors.

At OGA 2022, BPE showcased its range of offerings, current and upcoming. “It is an exciting time for BPE as we embark to expand the business and strengthen our presence as a key industry player by taking part as one of the stakeholders in an established platform such as OGA 2022,” explains BPE’s engineering and services managing director Ir Ts Mohd Isnari Idris.

According to Isnari, BPE’s participation in OGA serves to solidify its position as the provider of choice in electrical engineering. “The pandemic impacted the sector immensely in the past two years but now, as we enter the endemic phase, the timing of OGA 2022 serves as an ideal time and place for BPE to once more showcase our operational foundations and share our extensive portfolio and success stories.”

Backed by 28 years of expertise, BPE prides itself on offering a wide range of general electrical maintenance services such as inspection and maintenance of HV-LV switchgear, MCC and IMCS, electrical data collection, monitoring and analysis (CBM) services. BPE also offers reliable low-carbon electric and natural gas power generation equipment for offshore application.

“For almost 30 years, BPE has made it its mission to be a leading engineering services provider,” stresses Isnari. “It is our intent to be a one-stop solution provider for companies looking to fulfil their electrical engineering maintenance and solutions needs. One of the areas in which BPE has set itself apart from its competitors is its expertise in electric process heater systems.

“We have been servicing this important area for the past 15 years,” he says. “Our custom process heaters are engineered to provide precise process temperature control of virtually any liquid or gas process streams, including those of extreme pressure, temperature and flow conditions engaged in corrosive, hazardous and critical environments.”

Custom-engineered, these process and immersion heaters have extensive IECEx, ATEX and CSA certification, among others. Additionally, all of its electric process heater systems are built to comply with any standards and specifications required by clients.

“This is just one element of BPE that we are proud to showcase at OGA 2022,” says Isnari. “Together with our technical OEM partners, we are confident that we will be able to expand our presence not only in the local sector but also in regional and global markets.”

He reveals that there are ongoing efforts to expand its footprint in the Middle East, Indonesia and Vietnam.

Looking ahead

BPE is also embarking on its own sustainable journey to reduce carbon emissions in line with global practices. It is also expanding its expertise in line with the global aspiration to achieve net-zero carbon emissions by 2050.

“We want to use our expertise to go into the renewable energy sector and it’s an area that BPE is more than capable of servicing due to our experience in the field of electrical engineering and maintenance,” elaborates BPE board director Datuk Jamelah Jamaluddin.

“With the world shifting its focus to ESG (environmental, social and corporate governance), we believe now is the perfect time for us to diversify our business to support the energy sector,” she adds.

She also reveals that the company is looking to expand its presence in other areas. It is looking to use its vast expertise and experience to service the Internet of Things, telecommunication, transportation and construction sectors.

This will effectively make BPE a full-suite electrical engineering services company, one that is able to fulfil its ambition of being the provider of choice for the oil and gas industry.
