KUALA LUMPUR - ManagePay Systems Berhad (MPay) through ManagePay Services Sdn. Bhd. (MBSP) a wholly-owned subsidiary of the company has been awarded a project entitled Smart MBPP on January 13, 2022.
The Board of Directors of MPay has announced via Bursa Malaysia that MPSB has received and accepted the Offer Letter dated January 17, 2022.
In the announcement, it is said that MBSP will provide a software platform service to MBPP for payment of council bills in a cashless manner via JomPAY, internet and mobile banking, Visa and MasterCard, eWallet and other payment channels.
It is subject to the conditions to be fulfilled by MPSB within six months from the Offer Letter, the announcement added.
MBPP is one of 151 local governments in the country that has announced plans to go cashless.
Mentor Datuk Wira Dr. Azizan Osman, who has exceptional business acumen, marketing expertise, and hands-on experience in the industry, became a significant shareholder in MPay, July last year.
The Smart MBPP platform will also serve as a "One Stop Smart Centre," merging all accessible facilities and services into a mobile app and a responsive website, according to the statement.
Residents and business users in Penang Island can use the platform to make reservations for city council facilities, apply for business licences, request project approval, pay assessments, and much more.
The Smart MBPP has a five-year life span and is renewable for an additional two years.
