The interior of The Walden 2 homes is designed to let in plenty of natural light and enhance ventilation

Located amid vast oil palm plantations and scenic hills, Bandar Seri Coalfields has transformed from a quiet, slowly developing area into one of Selangor’s most well-designed townships. Spanning more than 1,001 acres, this master-planned community was envisioned as a modern residential and commercial hub, blending nature and tranquillity with urban amenities.

Developed by KLK Land Sdn Bhd, Bandar Seri Coalfields has grown significantly since its inception, thanks to strategic planning and a focus on sustainable living. Through the years, significant investments in infrastructure, connectivity and amenities have elevated the township to a highly sought-after address for families, professionals and retirees alike.

Well connected via major highways such as Latar, Guthrie Corridor Expressway (GCE) and DASH, and located close to cities such as Shah Alam, Petaling Jaya and Kuala Lumpur, Bandar Seri Coalfields offers easy access for frequent travellers.

According to KLK Land senior general manager of operations Dianne Chan, the township has so far seen a total of 2,750 houses completed and handed over. It is now home to an estimated 10,300 residents.

With the township’s population forecast to grow, more residential developments will be unveiled, starting with the luxurious The Walden 2.

“Owing to overwhelming response to The Walden Phase 1, we anticipated strong demand for this property type, as there are no other offerings or supplies of bungalows in the surrounding area,” says Chan.

Modern, sleek homes

Situated strategically among the township’s upmarket homes such as Hampton Residences and Hemingway Residences, The Walden 2 offers 69 single- and double-storey modern,

Balinese-inspired bungalows. Expansive and spacious, these bungalows come in 4+1 to 5+1 bedroom layouts, with land sizes of 60ft by 100ft and 60ft by 110ft, and built-ups ranging from 2,938 to 4,088 sq ft.

KLK Land sales and marketing senior manager Eric Tan says The Walden 2 is a residential community inspired by modern tropical resort design, following new urbanism principles. The homes are carefully designed with relaxing, restorative spaces to help residents unwind and recharge, promoting both mental and physical well-being.

As such, the overall development offers resort-like homes sporting large, pitched roofs with wide overhangs, shaded balconies and huge porches, complemented by a central garden at its heart. Offering a more neutral and minimalist look, these homes bear an earth-tone palette that blends seamlessly with its surrounding landscapes.

The interior of each residence is designed to let in plenty of natural light and enhance ventilation. “Clerestory windows and expansive window openings allow natural daylight to shine through the open-plan layouts, while lofty headroom spanning 4.3m in the living room enhances cross-ventilation,” Tan says.

A unique feature of The Walden 2 is its low-density enclave of single- and double-storey bungalows, offering a serene environment surrounded by nature. Chan says these homes cater for multi-generational living, offering elderly-friendly spaces such as the guest room, featuring a 1m-wide room entrance and sizeable disable-friendly bathroom with ramps and built-in shower benches.

As part of the developer’s environmental, social and governance (ESG) initiatives, homes at The Walden 2 will  feature sustainable elements such as booster pumps for water supply from the main tank, electric-vehicle charger point provisions, a solar water heater for all bathrooms except the maid’s room, solar photovoltaic panels on the rooftop, a rain water harvesting tank, security alarm system as well as an auto-gate system.

With The Walden 2, KLK Land has created a space in which residents can grow and communities can thrive. Chan says: “The Walden 2 is now open for sale. The target market includes individuals in the T20 income bracket, with a monthly household income above RM20,000. ”

An inclusive community

More than just a meticulously designed project, The Walden 2 is an indication of the township’s evolvement through the decades. Bandar Seri Coalfields is home for people from all walks of life, ranging from those living in affordable homes to multimillion-ringgit bungalows.

“A mix of property types ensures there is something for everyone, preventing a homogeneous development. This creates a dynamic and diverse community, accommodating people from different walks of life, income levels, and lifestyle preferences. It also helps maintain balanced urban growth without overcrowding in one specific housing segment,” says Chan.

“A diverse township offers more appealing investment opportunities for potential buyers. Properties in such areas tend to appreciate in value because of the comprehensive planning, with each component enhancing the overall attractiveness of the area.”

Bandar Seri Coalfields is 70% completed, with the remaining 30% still in the planning stage.

The developer aims to enhance the township’s 50-acre central park by adding new facilities, including an adventure playground for children, family and kiddy rides service, jogging and cycling tracks and barbecue pits. To bring more vibrancy into the township, Coalfields Retail Park is set to open in 2026. The mall will have a variety of renowned supermarket, F&B and fashion outlets as well as an ice-skating rink and children’s indoor playground, among other facilities. To ease the burden of working parents, the developer is bringing a Chinese primary school into Bandar Seri Coalfields, which will commence construction by end-2025.

“These developments aim to enhance the overall appeal of the area, improving convenience and accessibility for all,” says Chan.
