The International Social Well-Being Conference (ISWC) is bringing leaders and policymakers together to work together for a better tomorrow
Inclusive and sustainable growth is a core focus for many organisations, businesses and nations. It provides an avenue for all to participate in and benefit from development for the greater good. At the core of the movement is the desire to create viable conditions for growth to help bridge economic and social gaps while reducing the impact on the environment in order to secure a more supportable future for humanity.
It remains an important issue that is being repeatedly addressed on the world stage by leaders, stakeholders and environmentalists. With humanity facing rapid socioeconomic and environmental challenges, there has never been a more important time for citizens of the world to come together to address these issues. However, for policies to change and ideas to move forward, there is a need to inspire and empower our current and future generations.
This remains at the heart of the International Social Well-Being Conference (ISWC). The annual conference, which is an initiative of the Employees Provident Fund, brings together thought leaders and policymakers to discuss and share their knowledge to create a better and brighter future.
A catalyst for change
This year, the EPF is collaborating with Amundi Asset Management and Aberdeen Standard Investments for ISWC 2019. With the theme Shaping Destiny: Between Hope and Extinction, this year's conference will emphasise the importance of inspiring and empowering people to review, rethink and reshape their perspective on well-being and human values.
Designed for individuals, businesses, civil society, policymakers and governments, the powerful 1½-day event brings together thought leaders, game changers and renowned experts from around the world to inspire, ignite and illuminate a path to a grander, brighter version of tomorrow.
Scheduled to be held on Nov 21 and 22 at the Grand Hyatt Kuala Lumpur, this year's conference is both opportune and timely. The world today is evolving at a rapid pace, with humanity facing unprecedented pressures to root out poverty and hunger and fight climate change in order to create a more equitable future. Although it may seem like an uphill task, the fact remains that today's society has the capacity to evolve our thoughts and actions to shape our destiny in a more open and efficient way.
Guidance to a better future
The ISWC is a clarion call for us all to focus on leveraging the paradigm shift of ideas, wealth and capabilities that are available today to begin changing the world for the better. To ensure these ideas and concepts are channelled positively and effectively, the conference has roped in an impressive panel of speakers and experts to share their thoughts and knowledge.
Scheduled to take the stage during ISWC 2019 are 11 luminaries from the worlds of education, the environment, digital information and innovation as well as economics and business. This includes Dr Jane Goodall, one of the world's most prominent primatologists and anthropologists; Chandran Nair, the founder and CEO of the Global Institute For Tomorrow; and Surina Shukri, Malaysia Digital Economy Corp CEO.
With a wide range of topics set to be addressed by highly respected thought leaders, ISWC 2019 is indeed an important transformative event for all. Its theme is perhaps fortuitous as it may well inspire us to take action to work towards a brighter, more inclusive, more sustainable future.
With guidance provided an impressive panel of experts, the ISWC will set the stage for collective action as well as collaboration in order to initiate systemic changes to critical challenges in the economic, social, business and sustainability realms. Ultimately, ISWC may well be the beacon that will help put humanity on the path towards a better quality of life for us and for generations to come.
