Central i-City sits at the heart of i-City township with great road connections. It offers retailers a prime location in the Western Klang Valley region, supported by a massive local workforce and resident base.

To many Malaysians, shopping malls are more than just a place to shop. They are lifestyle hubs and social spaces where people eat, unwind, and stay connected. In a rapidly changing retail landscape however, keeping malls vibrant and relevant remains a demanding challenge, especially in the Klang Valley, home to a plethora of super regional, regional, neighbourhood and now more commonly, community style mini malls.

Yet, since its launch in 2019, Central i-City has proven itself to stand the test of time and remain relevant and competitive in this ever-evolving mall landscape. Post pandemic, Central i-City has continuously evolved year on year to gain a stronger foothold in the western corridor of Klang Valley through disciplined management, innovative flare and a deep understanding of its core customers to offer something unique and compelling in the market.

Backed by Central Pattana, Thailand’s largest mixed use lifestyle developer, with over 57 malls under management, Central i-City proves once again that retailing is not just about local knowledge, but global experience matters most. Central Pattana is proud to be wholly owned by Central Group who is the owner and operator globally of over 130 malls globally, as well as Hotels, Offices, Residences across 140 cities in 17 countries. Household names like Selfridges Department Store in London and Renscente in Italy who is are all owned by Central Group with a strategic foothold across Southeast Asia in Thailand, Vietnam and Malaysia and Indonesia.

From dynamic architecture to strategic pop-ups, every detail is designed to engage visitors and drive monthly footfall toward the one-million mark.

Bringing the best of Thailand’s mall management practices is first and foremost part of Central i-City’s DNA with a critical focus on delivering the best experiences, right brands and memorable service quality to the customers visiting the mall.

By the end of 2025, Central i-City is on track to reach close to 96% occupancy while welcoming over 60 new brands, offering customers fresh experiences every day. The mall continues to elevate the lifestyle landscape for residents of Shah Alam, Klang, Subang, Bukit Raja, Setia Alam, and beyond through curated retail offerings and first-to-market concepts.

Curating a Lifestyle Hub That Reflects Community Needs

With these credentials, the management team remains focused on elevating visitor experience and fresh brand presence. Mr. Jason Tan, who assumed the role of General Manager in August, is committed to a data-led approach to understand customer behaviour and unlock new opportunities.

Central i-City has gone through a transformational turnaround across all categories including Fashion, F&B, Specialty and Entertainment, to deliver the very best for our customers across Klang, Shah Alam, Bukit Raja, Setia Alam, Subang Jaya, and Kota Kemuning. Balancing household brands and staples, whilst delivering new and exciting brands is a key focus for Jason who brings a wealth of experience and insights from his previous experience at The Campus Ampang and many other notable malls throughout Kuala Lumpur.

“We need to understand what our community wants and deliver it with precision,” says Tan, who has a proven track record of transforming retail assets into high-performing destinations. His focus is on strategic tenant selection, lifestyle enrichment, and creating an environment that encourages dwell time, loyalty and in turn repeat visitation.

“This year is a major renewal year for Central i-City,” he added. “We have seen a very high rate of tenant retention, and we’re reshuffling our brand mix to exceed market expectations. It’s encouraging to see so much interest and confidence from both global and national brands.”

An ‘Event-First’ Approach That Drives Traffic and Sales

Since opening, Central i-City’s “event-first” strategy has been the cornerstone of its brand. The mall hosts a robust year-round calendar of cultural, family, and lifestyle events designed to strengthen community engagement and drive consistent footfall.

Festive celebrations have lifted footfall while signature events like Central Fight Fest, the National Lion Dance Championship, and Ini Malaysia Kita have driven traffic to surge throughout 2025.

In the digital sphere, the mall collaborates with over 120 Key Opinion Leaders (KOLs) on Facebook, Instagram, TikTok, and Xiaohongshu — providing additional visibility for its tenants and connecting with young, digitally savvy shoppers.

Jason Tan believes that to build a great mall, you don't just guess—you listen. It’s about understanding what Malaysians love and bringing that vision to life, right down to the last detail.

The mall currently houses 300+ tenants, and “we aim to meet unmet needs in this region,” Tan says. “By creating a complete tenant mix, we encourage shoppers to stay longer and engage more deeply with the mall.”

This year alone, Central i-City added some significant new brands and experiences to the region, including flagship lifestyle store KKV and Nitori (both first in the region), Watsons Pink, and global footwear giant Cloudsteppers, which launched its first-in-the-world concept store at i-City. Decathlon’s arrival further strengthens the mall’s sports and active lifestyle category while in 2026, we are happy to announce that Muji will be a key anchor in the mall too next year.

The dynamic, multi-level design ensures high visibility for tenants and fosters community and discovery throughout the mall.

Upbeat Growth Fuelled by a Bustling Community and Strong Ecosystem

Central i-City sits at the heart of the established i-City township, benefiting from an integrated ecosystem and access to a population of 1.3 million across Klang, Shah Alam, Bukit Raja, and Setia Alam.

On weekdays Central i-City enjoys a strong and steady customer base from the nearby 15,000 township residents, a 3,000-strong workforce, and nearby education institutions including UiTM and MSU as well as the international and national corporate demand into Doubletree Hilton Hotel and Wyndham Hotel I-City. Mercu Maybank, the premium A grade office tower adjacent to Central I-City mall sees strong corporate occupier interest and is close to being fully leased. The strong office and hotel demand has helped to boost visitation and spending interest in the mall and create a complete ecosystem to the precinct.

On weekends, families flock to its diverse offerings such as Kidzooona, The Parenthood, Jungle Gym, and TGV Cinemas — home to one of Malaysia’s premier IMAX and Samsung ONYX screens.

Future growth is expected to accelerate with the upcoming LRT3 opening in December, improving accessibility across the western corridor. The opening of Wyndham Grand i-City in December 2025 and the theme park’s weekly 50,000 visitors will further boost footfall. The upcoming AI World Experience Centre, featuring Asia Pacific’s first Artifical Intelligence hub with 100 humanoid AI robots, adds another unique attraction and technology first dimension to the immediate ecosystem.

With a hands-on management team and a forward-looking development pipeline in the masterplan, Central i-City is poised for stronger growth into the foreseeable future.
