Eastern & Oriental Bhd (E&O) consistently aims to deliver meticulously crafted properties for discerning clientele. Guided by this vision, E&O has embraced a holistic and environmentally-conscious approach with its latest projects-the newly reclaimed Andaman Island and its just-launched residential development, Arica, which earned the prestigious GreenRE Platinum Provisional Certification in the residential category in May.

The chic 45-storey Arica is nestled within the Gurney Green commercial district. The two-acre freehold project comprises 380 serviced apartments. The RM400 million development offers tastefully designed layouts in build-ups of 947 to 1,259 sq ft. The modern and spacious two- and three-bedroom units will be fully furnished with essential fittings, built-in cabinets, appliances and furniture.

"This enables homeowners to have a hassle-free experience when relocating while investors will enjoy convenient and immediate rental opportunities," says managing director Kok Tuck Cheong.

The units will feature high ceilings and generously sized windows, creating airy and bright rooms with uplifting ambience. The stylish and simple designs evoke the feel of modern and uncluttered living.

Arica allows people to experience the best of city living with green spaces, prime accessibility and a sense of community that is truly unmatched." - Kok

"Arica embraces a sleek aesthetic and prioritises functionality and sustainability in its designs and concepts. Since design, function and durability are hallmarks of E&O's quality standards, you can expect a living space that is tastefully fitted and furnished with quality materials and natural finishes." says Kok.

To create a work-life balance for residents, unique amenities will be incorporated into Arica. Residents will get to enjoy both personal and professional comforts and conveniences such as a daycare centre, a business lounge and a concierge at the ground level.

Kok says the daycare services and business lounge were designed with young families in mind ensuring that convenience would be available right at their doorstep. Work-from-home residents will also have an optimal working environment in the business lounge, which will be equipped with comfortable furnishings and reliable internet.

A wide range of fitness facilities will be available in the podium for residents of all ages to maintain a healthy and active lifestyle. Adult-friendly facilities include swimming pool, basketball court, squash court, dance studio and gym. Specially prepared for the children will be the children's pool, water play area and playground. Not only will these facilities allow residents to remain fit, it will also provide them an opportunity to engage with friends and build meaningful relationships with the community.

To relax and unwind after a long work day, residents can head to the garden spa, terraced garden and the jacuzzi. On the rooftop, there will be sunken family lounges, dining area and bar, rooftop terrace and event rooms. Residents will be able to spend quality time with family and friends while enjoying breathtaking ocean vistas.

Functionality, sustainable designs and thoughtfully curated furnishings offer residents an unmatched living experience

Sought-after address in a strategic location

Two bridges connect Andaman to Penang Island - the first to Gurney Drive and the second to Seri Tanjung Pinang

Arica's prime location provides residents access to commercial amenities like workplaces, education centres, hospitality, health and wellness, and retail services as well as cafés and restaurants in Gurney Green. The waterfront promenade is the perfect venue for people to conduct outdoor activities or just enjoy a relaxing evening while soaking up views of the Gurney skyline. Lulled by a gentle sea breeze together with the soft, warm evening sun on the skin, the waterfront promenade will help residents create precious moments that will be cherished.

Adjacent to Arica is The Meg, which has been fully taken up since its launch in 2021. The Meg's aesthetic design, symmetrical to Arica, complements each other in many ways, with the most meaningful being Temu, The Meg's streetfront retail space. Temu offers conveniences that can be enjoyed by both The Meg and Arica's residents.

"The Meg has also attained the GreenRE Platinum Provisional Certification under the residential category, just like Arica. Our aim is to put form and function as a priority when it comes to the design and concepts of our developments here, without compromising on the environment," Kok says.

Arica's strategic location allows easy access to Penang Island via two bridges, with the first connecting to George Town's second Central Business District, Gurney Drive. The area is well-known for its seafront hawker centre, mushrooming skyscrapers and shopping mall. The second bridge will connect to Seri Tanjung Pinang, E&O's award-winning residential enclave en route to the scenic beaches of Batu Feringghi.

E&O designed Arica with much care and thought, putting into consideration the diverse community found in Penang. It caters to all age groups, nationalities and generations such as young families, portfolio builders, investors as well as downsizers and empty nesters, says Kok. Young families will appreciate the spacious units, family-oriented facilities and amenities and convenient location. Downsizers and empty nesters will welcome the units' easy maintenance and proximity to amenities. Due to its strategic location, investors will be enticed by the prospects presented by Arica.

"Arica appeals to each group through its functional and sustainable design, thoughtfully curated furnishings, and emphasis on building a vibrant community environment. The development is designed to enrich every moment and milestone of everyone's life. It allows people to experience the best of city living with green spaces, prime accessibility and a sense of community that is truly unmatched," Kok says.

Andaman Island

Andaman Island is a 760-acre urban island with a gross development value of over RM60 billion. Phase 1, measuring 253 acres, was fully reclaimed at end-2019 while work is ongoing at the 507-acre second phase.

In May, the project received the GreenRE Platinum Provisional Certification under the township category. The developer aims to keepits promise to deliver a sustainable and green living space by using recycled and low-carbon footprint materials and improving the lifecycle of materials used. With green living and community building at the heart of Andaman's master plan, the developments are carefully crafted to provide its residents with quality lifestyles.

The island boasts more than 90 acres of green lungs that can be enjoyed by everyone. In Phase 1 alone, there will be more than 200,000 plants. Residents and their loved ones can relax in the parks, playgrounds and pocket gardens while enjoying the sea breeze. Rainwater harvesting and stormwater collection systems will be used for landscape maintenance and irrigation.

Incorporated into the master plan to promote a healthy and active lifestyle among residents are wide seafront promenades for pedestrians and cyclists to encourage movement throughout the island and across the Andaman and Gurney Bridges. The former will be connected to Seri Tanjung Pinang while the latter will link Andaman to Gurney Bay, the new public park in George Town's famous Gurney Drive.
