KUALA LUMPUR (Sept 22): Widad Group Bhd has entered into a collaboration agreement with IAQ Solutions Sdn Bhd (ISSB) to develop and supply solutions and services related to indoor air quality solutions to prevent and control airborne diseases.

ISSB, a wholly-owned subsidiary of IAQ International Sdn Bhd, is involved in the designing, supplying and installing of clean room products and applications and the provision of related services, Widad said in a statement.

“As concerns about indoor air quality has become more intense due to the coronavirus outbreak, the group has identified that indoor air quality will become an important component in facilities management.

“By working with ISSB to provide ventilation systems and filtration, we can help facilities such as hospitals, offices, retail and schools to mitigate the spread of disease by minimising infection,” said Widad group managing director Datuk Mohd Rizal Jaafar.

In May, the group also announced the inclusion of building disinfection services into its portfolio of integrated facilities management services.

Mohd Rizal said the collaboration with ISSB will enhance Widad’s end-to-end facilities management to be more comprehensive and relevant to the current needs.

ISSB director Tiew Soon Aik said the company has the technology to filter out pathogens and impurities from the air, which includes high-efficiency particulate air (HEPA) filters that have been proven to be efficient at capturing respiratory droplets that contain influenza or Covid-19 virus particles.

“We look forward to working with Widad to apply our expertise in this area as well as exchange knowledge to bring new dimensions to our respective businesses and clients,” said Tiew.

Widad’s share price closed unchanged at 58.5 sen, giving a market capitalisation of RM1.44 billion.
