SHAH ALAM (April 09): The water supply crisis faced by Selangor, Putrajaya and Kuala Lumpur currently, is due to the adamance of the Selangor
government, in accepting the views and predictions of professionals on the matter, previously.

Opposition Leader in the Selangor State Legislative Assembly, Datuk Mohd Shamsudin Lias (BN-Sungai Burong), said the refusal of the Menteri Besar, Tan Sri Abdul Khalid Ibrahim, in accepting the views of such groups, caused the people having to accept the impact for the past two months.

"Previously, the professional group in the water industry, had expected that the people of Selangor, Kuala Lumpur and Putrajaya would be facing a water crisis this year, but this was brushed aside by the Selangor state government, by saying that it (the crisis) would only occur in 2019.

"But looking at the situation today, the prediction has materialised, resulting in the people facing the impact, as their water supply is being
rationed, whereas the state government should have looked at the problem more seriously," he told reporters, at the lobby of the State Assembly building, here today.

He said, the Selangor government led by the opposition pact, was exposing its own weakness, when no proper action plan was prepared, which showed that it had still not learnt from the lesson in 2008, when a similar water crisis had occurred.
