KUALA LUMPUR (July 22): 7-Eleven Malaysia Holdings Bhd’s major shareholder Tan Sri Vincent Tan Chee Yioun has trimmed his shareholding in the convenience store chain operator by 4.54%.

In a filing with Bursa Malaysia, 7-Eleven said Tan sold 51.12 million shares on Tuesday (July 19), paring his stake to 40.34%, from 44.88% as of July 7.

7-Eleven’s shares closed at RM1.59 on Tuesday.

Meanwhile, the group said its substantial shareholder Classic Union Group Ltd bought 60 million shares on Tuesday, increasing its stake to 25.872% from 20.54% as of March 31. 

7-Eleven made headlines recently, after the group was reported to be weighing to sell its pharmacy chain Caring Pharmacy Group Bhd.

Shares of 7-Eleven, which gained 5.2% year-to-date, closed unchanged at RM1.55 on Friday (July 22), giving the group a market capitalisation of RM1.91 billion.
