KUALA LUMPUR (Feb 7): UEM Sunrise Bhd will invest RM250 million in the infrastructure development of the Southern Industrial and Logistic Clusters (SILC) — Nusajaya's flagship industrial project in Iskandar Malaysia, Johor — over the next five years.
The property developer has so far spent RM350 million on infrastructure works.
Spanning 1,300 acres of land, SILC Nusajaya has a cluster-based approach featuring advanced, innovation-driven industries in four major areas -— advanced technology, health and nutrition, logistics, and biotechnology.
The development is divided into three phases, with Phase 1 and Phase 2, covering a gross area of 590 acres, being fully sold.
UEM Sunrise chief executive officer Anwar Syahrin Abdul Ajib said the industrial lots under the two phases were sold to businesses from 12 countries.
"Currently, international tenants make up close to 50% of SILC Nusajaya's total tenants base," he told reporters at the launch of Phase 3 of SILC Nusajaya, which has a gross development value of RM800 million, today.
At the event, UEM Sunrise also signed a deal with Hong Kong-based logistics company Crown Worldwide Group to sell 180,000 sq ft of land at Phase 3 of SILC Nusajaya.
Anwar said with the presence of Crown Worldwide, UEM Sunrise expects to see significant growth in job creation by the third quarter of 2018.
At 2.17pm, UEM Sunrise rose one sen or 0.89% to RM1.13, with 3.91 million shares traded. Its market capitalisation stood at RM5.13 billion.
