(Aug 7): Time magazine has placed the Petronas Twin Towers second in a list of 21 of the most recognisable global landmarks, in a feature by Caroline Hellerman for the magazine’s travel section.

Hellerman, who believes that the best way to start a journey is to get up high and get a good view of the area, ranked the KL centre-piece alongside the Eiffel Tower, the Empire State Building and the Sydney Harbour Bridge.

“No trip to the Malaysian capital would be complete without an expedition to the top of these towers,” she said in the article.

“It also recommended a visit to the observation deck on the 86th floor, or walk between the structures on the Skybridge, 557 feet above ground.”

Hellerman also recommended the Grand Canyon, Willis Tower in Chicago, the Shard in London, Machu Pichu in Peru, St Peters Basilica in Vatican City, Mount Everest, The Duomo in Florence, One World Trade Center, Clingmans Dome in Tennessee, Park Guell in Barcelona, Burj Khalifa, the Great Wall of China, Shanghai World Financial Center, Cristo Redentor in Rio de Janeiro, Aurland Lookout in Norway, Bagan in Myanmar, the Cliffs of Moher in Ireland, and the Space Needle in Seattle. – The Malaysian Insider
