AS the leading name in premium travel, business and lifestyle accessories, Tumi recently reopened its store at The Gardens Mall in Kuala Lumpur. The reopening is part of Tumi’s latest expansion efforts across Southeast Asia as the leading luxury goods and accessories retailer continues to provide customers with stylish and practical travel solutions. Known as the Madison Concept Store, the space spans 1,639 sq ft taking inspiration from Tumi’s flagship store on Madison Avenue, New York City. The design of the store was created in 2013 by award-winning designer and architect Dror Benshetrit.

The new store is designed to ensure that Tumi’s products are showcased in the best possible way with clean lines, light-coloured furnishings and walnut-finished wood detailing. The men’s and women’s collections are separated for easy navigation as well as to put spotlight on the brand’s leather goods and accessories. Standout features in the store include a 70’’ flat screen television that are now playing the latest Global Citizens brand campaign videos, as well as a monogramming station where buyers can customise their purchases.

For the Autumn/Winter 2016 season, the brand has introduced a line-up of lifestyle essentials, beginning with its lightest ever hardside luggage range — the V3. Designed with the global citizen in mind, the V3 collection hopes to raise the bar for design and technology by setting a new standard for luggage. Constructed from a multilayer polycarbonate shell, this flexible material is able to resist cold impact cracking and corner crushing despite being extremely lightweight.

Aside from that, the new compact V3 is extremely easy to manoeuvre, allowing it to glide effortlessly whether you are checking in your luggage or rushing to your airport gate. The collection features styles such as a four-wheeled carry-on as well as a worldwide trip packing case, all of which are equipped with profile TSA Locks, Tumi Tracer and a patented X-Brace 45 telescoping handle system crafted from lightweight sturdy aircraft-grade aluminium.

Tumi also looks East for its Autumn/Winter campaign by finding inspiration from Japan. A country known for combining tradition and modernity, the Land of the Rising Sun makes an intriguing muse for the global citizen. Kanji brushstrokes are reinterpreted and used as a character print for this season’s Alpha collection that exudes a utilitarian yet abstract vibe thanks to the designs. The Voyageur range also

incorporates a Japanese aesthetic with its use of floral and camouflage prints. The print on the Indigo Floral from the collection looks to the famous cherry blossoms for inspiration.

The Haydon collection for men combines functionality and style for a relaxed and fashion-forward range. Made from lightweight, durable fabric, bags from this range are fitted with Tumi ID Lock to guard against identity theft. The Elias flap backpack from this collection is ideal if you are travelling with a laptop and comes with pockets to store tablets, documents and other essentials. The Blackburn duffel is an ideal companion for a weekend getaway thanks to its roomy main compartment that can store all your necessities.

For the sophisticated women traveller, the Verona collection is definitely be a favourite. Combining nylon with a glossy leather trim, leather tassel zipper pulls and handles, the collection has a city-ready aesthetic perfect for the jet-setting woman. The range includes the Quinn satchel, a gorgeous day bag with a gusseted exterior front pocket and key leash as well as a microfibre-lined pocket for mobile phones and delicate items. The Verona collection also features the Casey crossbody and Kori small backpack, both of which boast roomy interiors despite its seemingly small sizes.

If you are looking to travel with an added touch of luxury, Tumi has two premium leather collections for men and women. The Landon collection for men is crafted from matte pebbled leather and has slick accents such as leather binding and rich interior

lining. The Alcott backpack from the collection exudes a casual yet functional cool with a leather pleated gusset that gives it easy access to the main compartment.

The Mariella collection is Tumi’s first premium collection for women and it caters to the need to look chic while travelling or working. The Tula tote is a carryall made from buttery-soft leather showcasing clean lines and understated elegance for a polished finish. Two other standouts from this collection include the Eva satchel and mini Eva crossbody that are a combination of luxurious leathers and gunmetal hardware.

As a result of its versatility, Tumi’s latest collection and new concept store offers something for everyone.
