KUALA LUMPUR (Apr 18): Jewellery chain operator Tomei Consolidated Bhd has secured a one-year deal to distribute and retail China’s Xifu jewellery collections in Malaysia.
In a filing with Bursa Malaysia, Tomei said its wholly-owned unit, Tomei Gold & Jewellery Holdings (M) Sdn Bhd, has entered into a distribution agreement with Shenzhen Harmony Batar Jewellery Co Ltd for the distributorship right.
Tomei said Xifu jewellery collections, which is owned and trademarked by the World Gold Council, is a series of jewellery collections that focuses on the global wedding market.
The group said these collections series are created by some of the best jewellery designer in the world through world class jewellery competitions.
The World Gold Council is the market development organization for the gold industry, it said, adding its purpose is to stimulate and sustain demand for gold, provide industry leadership and be the global authority on the gold market.
It is also an association whose members comprise the world’s leading gold mining companies.
Shenzhen Harmony Batar, on the other hand, is a company in China that specialises in the retailing of gold jewellery.
Under the agreement, Tomei will be granted an exclusive right to retail the Xifu jewellery collections in Malaysia from April 17 this year till April 16, 2018.
“The agreement includes several product categories such as ring, bangle, bracelet, pendant and earring under various collections such as the Engagement collection, Wedding collection, Love & Kindness collection, Gift collection and Baby collection,” the group said.
Tomei expects the agreement to contribute positively to its profitability for the financial year ending Dec 31, 2017.
Tomei’s share price gained one sen or 1.82% to 56 sen today, giving it a market capitalisation of RM77.62 million.
