KUALA LUMPUR (Oct 13): Cocoa products manufacturer Teck Guan Perdana Bhd extended gains today after Bursa Malaysia issued an unusual market activity (UMA) query on the sharp rise in the stock's price yesterday.

Yesterday, Teck Guan jumped 31 sen or 29.5% to close at RM1.36. Today, shares of the company, which also runs oil palm plantations, reached its highest so far today at RM1.58.

At 10.27am, the stock erased part of its gains at RM1.54 for a market capitalisation of RM61.7 million. Teck Guan was the third-largest gainer across the exchange.

Shares of rival cocoa products manufacturer Guan Chong Bhd, however, fell four sen or 4% at 10.40am to 87 sen.

Teck Guan had yet to reply to Bursa Malaysia's UMA query at the point of writing.

But it is worth pointing out that Teck Guan posted a net profit of RM2.59 million in its second quarter ended July 31, 2015 compared to a net loss of RM1.86 million a year earlier.

Revenue grew to RM66.09 million from RM45.69 million. Teck Guan's latest closing share price of RM1.36 compares with the company's latest reported net assets per share of RM2.0082.
