KUALA LUMPUR (Sept 25): Berjaya Group founder Tan Sri Vincent Tan has upped his indirect stake in 7-Eleven Malaysia Holdings Bhd to 41.3% from 40.39% earlier.
In a filing with Bursa Malaysia today, 7-Eleven said Tan bought 1.01 million shares, representing 0.91% stake in the company, via Sublime Cartel Sdn Bhd, a wholly-owned unit of Berjaya Asset Bhd on Sept 21 via the open market.
The acquisition brings Tan's deemed interest in the company to 458.62 million shares or a 41.3% stake.
The Sultan of Johor, Sultan Ibrahim Sultan Iskandar, has also bought an additional 0.26% stake in 7-Eleven between Sept 13 and 20, which resulted in his total direct shareholding increasing to 108.03 million shares or a 9.28% stake.
7-Eleven shares closed unchanged at RM1.47 today, with 358,500 shares traded, giving it a market capitalisation of RM1.63 billion.
