KUALA LUMPUR (April 22): Success Transformer Corp Bhd has appointed Datuk Chua Tia Guan as chairman following the resignation of Chiam Tau Meng due to personal commitment after a two-year stint as its head.

In a filing with Bursa Malaysia today, the transformer and industrial power products maker said Chua, 48, is a founding member of the Special Task Force to Facilitate Business (Pemudah) in the Prime Minister's Department, entrusted to improve the business environment and enhance the national competitiveness of Malaysia since 2007.

"He is also the co-chair of Pemudah's focus group on paying taxes and a member of the goods and services tax monitoring working committee of the Finance Ministry.

"He is also a board member of the Secretariat for the Advancement of Malaysian Entrepreneurs and a member of the Steering Committee for SME High Impact Programme of The Malaysian Administrative Modernisation and Management Planning Unit (Mampu). Both units are part of the Prime Minister's Department," said Success Transformer.

Chua, a Universiti Malaya Bachelor of Accounting graduate, is also the head for tax and financial consulting at Great Vision Group and executive chairman of Burger King Malaysia and Singapore.

Meanwhile, Chiam, 63, who was appointed to the board on Aug 15, 2008, became its chairman on July 18, 2014.

Success Transformer shares closed unchanged at RM2.30 for a market capitalisation of RM263.9 million.
