Kenanga Investment Bank Bhd (+ve)

SHARES in Kenanga Investment Bank Bhd (fundamental: 1.8/3, valuation: 1.2/3) triggered our momentum algorithm yesterday.

The stock closed up 3.19% or 1.5 sen higher at 48.5 sen with 614,800 shares traded, versus the counter’s 200-day average of 75,021 shares.

Kenanga Investment is principally a group providing financial services, including equity broking, investment banking, futures broking, treasury, corporate advisory, Islamic banking, wealth management and investment management.

In its third quarter ended Sept 30, 2016, Kenanga Investment’s net profit was back in the black at RM5.96 million compared to the RM13.05 million net loss it posted a year ago.

Its income statement showed higher interest income, net income from Islamic banking business, and other operating income, and lesser allowance for impairments, though these were offset by higher taxation and zakat for the quarter.

Kenanga Investment is currently trading at 0.39 times its net book value.
