KUALA LUMPUR (April 12): The Ministry of Health said there was a spike in Covid-19 cases at Selangor Mansion, with an additional 32 confirmed infections there today.

Director-General of Health Datuk Dr Noor Hisham Abdullah said this brought the total number of cases at the high-rise building in Jalan Masjid India, which has been placed under Enhanced Movement Control Order (EMCO), to 75 as at noon today.

Nearby Malayan Mansion, another flat which was also placed under EMCO, saw no new addition to its four cases, he said during his daily Covid-19 briefing.

Menara City One, located a short distance away, saw one new case, bringing the total to 31, said Noor Hisham, adding that there was one death at the condominium, of a Pakistani national.

Meanwhile, there had been one death at the Kampung Baru PKNS flats yesterday.

“There was one death yesterday related to the PKNS flats. Therefore we are doing our active case detection over that area, basically in the vicinity. Rest assured that our district health office is taking action,” said Noor Hisham.

Asked if other buildings within the vicinity of the flats that were also under strict monitoring, he said the focus currently is only on the PKNS flats, similar to how tests are being done at Malayan Mansion and Selangor Mansion.

Elsewhere, the EMCO areas in Kluang district in Johor saw 10 new cases in Bandar Baru Ibrahim Majid, while other EMCO localities did not see any new cases.

By district, Ulu Benut saw an increase of 10 cases to 170, while there were no new cases in Kluang (18 cases), Machap (four cases) and Nyior (one case).

Hulu Langat saw nine new cases in Kampung Sungai Lui, bringing the total positive infections to 304 cases. There was one death in Hulu Langat.

Other districts that saw new cases were Cheras (two new cases) and Kajang (two new cases).
