SINGAPORE (Apr 15): Rail operator SMRT Corporation says the company has entered into an agreement with OMGTEL to bid for the fourth wireless telecommunications carrier licence in Singapore.

OMG is a company incorporated in Singapore by Consistel on 20 October 2014 for the purpose of bidding for the telco licence.

"The collaboration agreement will be for the provision of such services and/or goods as may be agreed between the parties and will seek to leverage on synergies that can be derived from the company’s extensive media presence and commuter reach," says SMRT in a filing.

SMRT says the company has also offered an option to invest up to $34.5 million via an option to subscribe for shares in OMG.

SMRT closed flat at $1.63 today.
