KUALA LUMPUR (Nov 1): SKB Shutters Corp Bhd has acquired 9.81 acres of industrial land in the Eco Business Park V for RM35.97 million, marking its entry into the industrial park of Eco World Development Group Bhd (EcoWorld).

In a joint statement, SKB Shutters, which manufactures roller shutters, steel doors and storage rack systems, said it acquired the land to set up a new automated manufacturing facility in the industrial park, which is located in Puncak Alam.

With the new plant, SKB Shutters is forging ahead with its plans to deploy fully automated fabrication lines, smart optimisation of energy and productivity monitoring and processes, and the launch of Fail-Safe Flood Gate production, the statement said.

"We are proud to position our manufacturing plant among other high-calibre establishments," SKB Shutters managing director Michelle Sin said. "With the cutting-edge facilities, extensive connectivity to major business ports, and superior security, we are confident of the boundless possibilities that EBP V (Eco Business Park V) can offer."

The new plant will prioritise green building operations including adapting rainwater harvesting and solar energy expected of its large roof coverage. Additionally, manufacturing and operational processes are focused on reducing waste and scraps with efficient production engineering and a dedicated wastewater treatment component incorporated in this upcoming plant in Eco Business Park V.

"SKB Shutters' decision to establish their business here will certainly contribute towards our efforts to make EBP V one of the best industrial parks in the country and a key job centre offering quality employment opportunities for the people of Selangor," EcoWorld deputy president and deputy chief executive officer Datuk Seri Sundarajoo Somu said.

Spanning 700 acres with five phases, Eco Business Park V has a total gross development value of RM2.85 billion. Developed by Paragon Pinnacle Sdn Bhd — a joint venture between EcoWorld and the Employees Provident Fund — the project has an 85% occupancy.

At noon market break on Tuesday (Nov 1), shares of SKB Shutters were down half a sen or 1.41% at 35 sen, giving it a market capitalisation of RM46.2 million. EcoWorld's share price was also half a sen or 0.83% lower at 60 sen, giving it a market capitalisation of RM1.77 billion.
