SINGAPORE (Feb 19): Investors of SingTel, StarHub and M1 aren’t happy that the city state has started the process of allowing a fourth mobile telecommunications operator.

The Infocomm Development Authority of Singapore Thursday announced details of allocation of spectrum for mobile telecommunications.

The IDA said it aims to conduct the spectrum allocation exercise this year.

To enhance "innovation and competition" in the mobile market, the IDA said it will facilitate the entry of a new mobile operator.

But the three incumbent players say the small local market is already nearly saturated.

At 12.41pm, SingTel is down 0.8% at $3.74, StarHub is down 2.01% to $3.42 while M1 is down 0.4% at $2.51.

In comparison, the benchmark Straits Times Index is down 0.44%.
