SINGAPORE (April 12): Sembcorp Utilities, a wholly-owned unit of Sembcorp Industries, has raised its stake in India-based renewable energy company Sembcorp Green Infra to 67.7% from 65.1% previously.
The larger stake comes following the subsidiary’s full subscription to the entire rights issuance by Sembcorp Green Infra to fund the latter’s growth there.
Sembcorp Utilities paid about $32.6 million for the total investment through a mix of internal funds and external borrowings.
Its partner IDFC Private Equity Fund III did not subscribe to the 34.88% share of the rights issuance.
Despite the larger stake, Sembcorp Industries says this will not have a “material” impact on its earnings per share and net asset value per share for the financial year ending Dec 31, 2016.
Shares of Sembcorp Industries ended down 3 cents or 1% at $2.88.
