KUALA LUMPUR (Feb 24): Selangor Dredging Berhad (SDB) recently launched a Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) programme called One-Two-Boost for young adults with disabilities.

The developer has collaborated with TCM (Traditional Chinese medicine) practitioners Lin Cze-Pern and Go Pei Heng, who are graduates from the Nanjing University of Chinese Medicine, to create special prescribed herbal drinks and soup packs to boost one’s overall immunity and well-being. This initiative aims to provide people with special needs with more job opportunities, as well as to promote a healthier community living.

“The main intention was to launch a series of wellness drinks and soups, all single-handedly prepared and packed by young adults with disabilities under proper supervision. They will gather on certain days at Wisma Golden Eagle Realty located along Jalan Ampang, Kuala Lumpur, where SDB’s headquarters is based before embarking on their tasks,” said SDB managing director Teh Lip Kim in a press release on Tuesday (Feb 23).

New product series would be introduced from time to time for overall wellness and well-being, and caters for different needs of the body. Currently, the Immune-Booster series feature soups, tea and drink packs to boost one’s overall immunity, while the Nourishing Series consist of warm and cold Ba Zhen soup, which increase energy and blood circulation. To increase the body’s metabolic rate, the Fat Loss tea is suitable to be consumed daily, along with a proper diet and exercise regime, to be effective.

“Our CSR initiatives are driven by strong purpose and revolve around offering support, while creating opportunities for individuals with disabilities to acquire skills that will prepare them for a life on their own. Apart from offering them a channel for employment, the projects undertaken by SDB not only provide temporary assistance but also enable them to learn and improve their work and social skills,” added Teh.
