KUALA LUMPUR: Samsung Malaysia Electronics yesterday introduced its 98 inch (249cm) QLED 8K TV, officially the largest 8K screen experience in Malaysia.
The latest addition to its 2019 TV line-up, the new Samsung QLED 8K TV is equipped with the South Korean tech giant’s propriety quantum processor, an artificial intelligence (AI)-powered picture and sound processing semiconductor technology which improves the whole entertainment experience.
Samsung Malaysia Electronics head of consumer electronics Jimmy Tan said with the unveiling of the QLED 8K TV, “we are bringing a new dimension of reality through our 98-inch display. Our propriety technology in Quantum Processor 8K [has] once again raised the bar by upscaling the lower-resolution content you watch to near-8K quality”.
The company explained that the machine-learning quantum processor employs its AI capabilities to learn and compare millions of images that help it calibrate lower-resolution sources and optimise them into 8K-quality content regardless of the original format.
“With that, the issue of currently limited native 8K content is a non-issue for Samsung’s 2019 QLED TVs,” it added in a statement.
The key products in the 2019 QLED line-up include the 8K Q900R that ranges from 65 inches to 98 inches in size, as well as the 4K Q90R, Q75R and Q60R that range from 49 inches to 82 inches.
In total, the expanded 2019 QLED line-up features more than 20 models and includes more large-screen models.
