KOTA KINABALU (Dec 27): Pengiran Saifuddin Pengiran Tahir has been appointed the new Group General Manager of Sabah Economic Development Corporation (SEDCO) effective Dec 16 succeeding Maisuri Besri, who has been assigned to head Sabah Ports Authority (SPA).

Pengiran Saifuddin, 56, hails from Papar, and graduated with a law degree from the University of London, England in 1986.

SEDCO in a statement here today said he was admitted to the High Court of Borneo in 1988.  

"His career in the legal field included the appointment as a senior legal officer in the State Attorney General's Chambers from November 1994 until February 1996.  

"Embarking into a new field, he joined Angkatan Hebat Sdn Bhd as its Deputy Chief Executive Officer in March 1996. A year later, he took up a similar position in K.K.I.P. Sdn Bhd and served in that capacity for over 13 years," the statement said.

Pengiran Saifuddin, who also holds a master's degree in business administration (MBA) from Universiti Malaysia Sabah, was appointed Managing Director of SEDCO’s property development arm, Sabah Urban Development Corporation Sdn Bhd (SUDC), in September 2010.
