KUALA LUMPUR: The Royal Jordanian Airlines will resume flying to Kuala Lumpur (KL) from Jordan's capital Amman through a code share flight agreement with Malaysian Airline System Bhd from June 2.

Royal Jordanian expected demand for this route to pick up once again due especially to the similarities between the two countries — both predominantly Muslim nations, the Middle Eastern airline's sales manager for Malaysia Wilson Chan said on Thursday, April 22.

The company said it stopped flying to KL in 2005 due to the low demand for flights to Malaysia then.

"Tourist arrivals into Malaysia were not very strong then — but now after five years, Malaysia is actually the number one tourist destination for a lot of countries, the Gulf areas for example," Chan said.

Royal Jordanian will reintroduce the KL-Amman via Thailand route three times a week every Monday, Wednesday and Friday.

The route takes 14 hours (including the Thailand stopover), and Royal Jordanian will fly the route with an Airbus A330-200 series type airplane which can seat 283 passengers, of which 24 are in business class.
