KUALA LUMPUR: Alliance Islamic Bank Bhd (AIS) has appointed its deputy chief executive officer (CEO), Rizal IL-Ehzan Fadil Azim, as its new CEO, effective immediately.

Rizal takes over the helm of AIS from Fozia Amanulla, who will assume the role of Alliance Bank Malaysia Bhd’s chief business development officer for the strategic business development division.

“In his new appointment, Rizal will position AIS for its next phase of growth, and bring the bank forward in the Islamic banking industry,” said AIS in a statement yesterday.

Rizal first joined AIS in November 2012 as senior vice president of strategy and business performance, before being promoted to deputy CEO last year. He has over 22 years of experience in banking and business advisory.

He holds a Bachelor of Science (honours) degree from the University of Warwick, the UK.
