KUALA LUMPUR (Sept 7): RHB Banking Group has appointed Wong Kee Poh as the chief executive officer (CEO) of RHB Bank (Cambodia) PLC, and Piyanat Aranyakasemsuke as the CEO of RHB Bank Thailand, effective Sept 1, 2020.
In a statement today, RHB said Wong had more than 34 years of experience in the banking industry, and held several senior management and leadership positions in well-established financial institutions in Malaysia.
It said he was the deputy country head of RHB Bank (Cambodia) PLC from January 2013 and subsequently appointed as the CEO of RHB Bank Thailand in 2015.
Wong holds a Master of Business Administration from Lansbridge University, New Brunswick, Canada and a Bachelor of Economics from University Malaya.
Meanwhile, the banking group said Piyanat possesses more than 10 years of experience in the financial services industry, mainly in the corporate and commercial banking sector.
RHB said prior to this appointment, he served as the deputy CEO of RHB Bank Thailand from July 2018 to August 2020.
He joined RHB Bank Thailand in 2015 as the head of business development. Piyanat holds a Master in International Business and Administration from Newcastle Business School at Northumbria University and a Bachelor of Economics from Thammasat University, Thailand.
RHB said Wong and Piyanat will lead and drive the group’s commercial banking business and operations in Cambodia and Thailand respectively.
It said their appointment will further augment the strength of the group’s leadership team for its regional operations, and enhance the group’s presence in both key markets, in line with the group’s five-year FIT22 strategy.
At the time of writing today, RHB was unchanged at RM4.68, valuing it at RM18.77 billion.
