KUALA LUMPUR (Sept 22): Ramsay Sime Darby Health Care (RSDH) is donating around 320 refurbished electronic devices to underserved communities in the Klang Valley.

In a statement on Thursday (Sept 22), the medical group said RSDH’s four hospitals — Subang Jaya Medical Centre, ParkCity Medical Centre, Bukit Tinggi Medical Centre and Ara Damansara Medical Centre — joined forces to repurpose their existing laptops and PCs to give them out to the needy.

It said the refurbished devices will be distributed to various groups in need in the local community where each of the hospitals are located in.

RSDH group chief executive officer Peter Hong said by recycling these devices instead of discarding them, the group was able to make a positive contribution to society and the environment, thereby also reducing its carbon footprint.

“Moreover, with cost of living on the rise, we hope the initiative will directly benefit those who are unable to afford new PCs and laptops as such devices have become an essential part of everyday life.

“It certainly also reflects the group’s philosophy of ‘People caring for people’ and we are glad for the opportunity to bridge the digital gap in our community while making a positive difference,” he said.
